The hell?

I doubt this will be any good...and I imagine it'll be impossible to go to a theater without people in the audience yelling "Look at all your different colored hats!" Hell, I might have to see it just so I can do that. :D

Also I'm curious if this is going to be serious or not. If it's going for tongue-in-cheek I can't blame them, but I can see it being serious as well. Marlon Wayans can act, but it'll be interesting to see if he actually does. :D

All that keeps going through my mind is Transformers, with different clothes.

Another childhood favorite about to be raped... :(

At least, they are trying to apparantly get the characters looking somewhat like the old cartoon ones. The girl playing Scarlett is convincing, Snake Eyes looks good although I don't like that visor on his costume. I can kind of see Dennis Quaid as Hawk. The blond though, who the hell is she supposed to be? Certainly not Lady Jaye I would think (she was a short-haired brunette). I guess the white Asian guy is supposed to be Stormshadow? But hello where is the awesome ninja outfit he wore??? The Baroness is missing her glasses as well, but she looks good. I read somewhere else that Marlon Wayans is playing Ripcord (admittedly, I cannot for the life of me remember this character), but frankly if a Wayans is in the movie - that's strike one...

I get the gut feeling though this movie is going to be absolute cheese ala Street Fighter (that steaming piece of shit)... :mryuck:

[EDIT] I guess apparantly they took down all the shots of the actors from your link ishak540m....

Are they going to give the audience helpful tips in life when the movie is over..? :o

The animated Street Fighter V was awesome. Animated Transformers: The Movie kicks live action Transformers' butt. The moral of the story: cartoons should be cartoons.

Naa, they can be movies, provided the filmmakers actually know wth it is they're working on.

So, this means they actually found a way to get all the cheese out of a stale franchise and enhance all the cool parts! Way to go... but ONLY if we NEVER, EVER see a bad guy parachuting to safety out of his exploding plane!

All I care about is: Who will be cast as Major Bludd? Because there has to be a Major Bludd in the film. I will so watch this movie if Major Bludd is in it.

Edit: Oh, I see they've started filming and there doesn't seem to be a listing for Major Bludd at the movie's IMDb page. :( I am sad. :(

Oh that is blasphemy, if it weren't for Snake Eyes, Major Bludd would almost have to be favorite for the Boba Fett of the GI Joe universe... :D

A crazy Aussie with an eye-patch, a helmet, a moustache and loads of grenades who writes bad poetry? Best. Character. Ever.

Anybody catch G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1046173/)? A very fun and cheesy, in a good way, action joyride.

You have the very sexy Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), wisecracking nice guy hero Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), and the stoic warriors Duke and Snake Eyes. Then you have the deliciously evil Baroness and Storm Shadow. The ninjas have glorious battles, as do the ladies.

And of course, we have Dennis Quaid being awesomely over-the-top as General Hawk, and some great performances from the maniacal head villains.

Definitely check it out folks, it's a good time. And word is the sequel has been greenlit.

I still have memories with G.I. Joe Action figures and so and so, so I want to see this.

(Yeah, Yeah, I know the figures have nothin' to do with the movie)

I want to see an action flick where they have a woman with DDs wearing one of those hard body suits...

C'mon now Jiminator, Rachel Nichols pictured as Scarlett above is pretty big breasted. :D Here's another outfit she wears in the movie:

If it seems like Scarlett and Baroness are the main selling points of the film, well... that's true. But hey, there are also those cool ninjas Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. And glorious '80s style action fun to be had!

And Duke's New Chainsaw, you're very right. I found this to be a lot more fun and better in general than either of the two Transformers flicks.

Ah I see, so what you were saying is you want to see G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra because of that fine picture of the big breasted Scarlett? :D

See, by your wording it sounded like you were saying something else.

Baroness is pretty awesomely hot too, for a family film this may have just brought sexy back.

Oh that is blasphemy, if it weren't for Snake Eyes, Major Bludd would almost have to be favorite for the Boba Fett of the GI Joe universe... :D

So he is barely gonna do anything the entire film beside standing next to cobra and then die a pathetic and hilarous way. Never understood why so many people like Boba fett, a blind man defeated him.

Transformers 2 did the same crap, too. Even though people (even Bay) say it's not trying to be serious.

Just how serious is too serious? It was Transformers 2's juvenile attempts at humor that bothered most people.

There were some interesting moments and a few good lines, but I don't think it was a particularly good movie. I just couldn't make myself care much about Duke or Ripcord.

Wayans did better than I anticipated. He comes across as a low-budget Will Smith but manages not to be annoying. All he's ever really given to work with is the fact that he wants to bone Scarlett.

Tatum is much worse. He rarely manages to display emotions and amounts to nothing more than exposition. It's like his whole purpose is to allow for the explanation of a few key plot details.

Part of it is acting. Most of it is writing. They could've easily trimmed down the action scenes (Do we really need a 20-minute action sequence that has its ending spoiled in the trailer?) without losing tension.

Consider Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow. It's a good story, but too much of it is told in flashbacks. If you're a writer and find yourself writing a flashback. Just stop. The odds are good that whatever info is in them can come out in a different manner with a much more powerful dramatic hook.

The same can be said for Duke's storyline. I won't go into it, but it's a major part of the movie, one that could've come out a lot differently, vastly improving the story.

I have to disagree with you on your advice to writers, flashbacks are fine. I've heard the same rule about narration, but really if something works for your story use any dramatic device you want.

I watched this today, and was surprised by the effects used in this. I'm definitely gonna watch this again on Blu-ray, and use PIP Commentary, if available, to learn how they pulled everything off.
Not to say that I wanted to say "Timber" when Eiffel Tower went down, but watching that warhead was rather cool. Even if they accuse the "good guys" of knocking it down...

Needless to say, far better than I was expecting, especially after seeing all the bad rap from Transformers 2. Certainly something that Paramount would resort to make movies based off old action figures.

I find Shia Lebeouf genuinly funny, and Megan Fox is hot, but I agree the Transformers movies are kind of underwhelming.

They're not bad, but they aren't what they could be.

For whatever reason, the G.I. Joe movie clicks more with me. Can't wait for some sequels.

Saw this. It was alright, I'll watch it again if it hits cable. It was a bigger movie than I was expecting with lots of heavy effects scenes but some of them (like the suits in the Paris chase) weren't good. Sienna Miller was hot though. And I almost did not recognize the kid from 3rd rock from the sun in this. Brendan Frasier makes an appearance too. The acting was shoddy for the most part and the story was mostly derivative.

I saw it last night. Not bad, better than I expected. Although it was a lot more violent than I was expecting.

A critic on the radio said it's like a live action Team America, after seeing the Paris fight I see what he means. :)

Transformers 2 was the worst film of the year.

I thought it was entertaining despite it's flaws.

However, G.I. Joe is an epic failure in my opinion.

Accelerator suits do not make a soldier, Channing Tatum is an awful actor, the CGI is crap, the movie is overly campy, the political correctness is overwhelming, etc.

I could go on but I won't.
