I just purchased Max Payne for the PC today. I installed it fine with no problems at all, but whenever I click on the icon to actually play the game, the Max Payne logo comes on the screen and then my monitor shuts off. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game a few times, using the Full and Minimal install options. I also checked my color and monitor settings and it still didn't work. The I checked out the sites and downloaded the patch for the game to see if that would help at all, which it didn't. Is there anything at all you can do for me? My computer is pretty up to date, as I am running Windows ME and have a 1200MhZ AMD Athelon Processor, 128MB RAM, 80GB hard drive, a 32MB Nvidia TNT2 Graphics card (which I just downloaded new drivers for a week ago) and a DVD-Rom. My monitor settings are at 1024X768 and I have my colors at High Color 16 Bit. I check through the FAQ and tried to run "dxdiag" but when I do it shuts down the monitor just like when I try to start the game. Please help!

Thanks,
Brandon

Try using another D3D game, but it seems there is a problem with your drivers since it also happens with DXdiag. Try reistalling them, try the same with DX, since it might be confused (I know it shouldn't but hey I didn't make it).

OK, I re-installed Direct X...I re-installed my drivers. I tried setting my monitor at a lower resolution. Nothing works at all. I'm convinced that Max Payne has it out for me.
