Which and why? Which one is more useful for travel planning, and which has the better 3d view?
Edit: I guess it isn't called Microsoft Virtual Earth no more. It seems there's also no download for Bing Maps, it's in-browser only. That's one point against Bing right there.

Well, let’s hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.
I prefer Map Quest.
That’s a good one, too.
Google Maps is the best.
True that.
DOUBLE TRUE.
I mainly use Google Maps over Google Earth to plan routes.

I'm not looking for driving routes, but locations to visit in Japan.

Google Earth is more feature full, as far as I know. You may even be able to get the 3D buildings of places in Japan (landmarks mostly).

Supposedly with a hack you can offline save chunks of Google earth on a laptop for when you don't have a connection. One of these day's I'm going to try that, it would be hugely useful They should support it as a feature.
Myself I always use Google Earth or maps except for when I want a higher resolution closeup of something, often Microsoft has a better closeup image.

If you're looking for specific info, what's keeping you from checking out both and comparing them?
