Not sure if anyone else likes Alice in Chains, other than me and London Midge, but they finally released a new CD a few days ago. (Been about 50 years since they released a new CD) :o They have a new singer and the sound seems fairly similar to their old songs.

BestBuy has the CD and also a special edition version that comes with an XL t-shirt for 9.99 and 24.99 each. \o

Holy crap, I had no idea. Downloading it now (legally, from Amazon). Thanks for the heads up!

I was gonna pick it up in Besy Buy but I had already $250 worth of stuff in my cart so I didn't get it.

I have all of their CDs, including the Last Action Hero soundtrack and their MTV Unplugged video. I almost picked up the movie because i think they were in the movie, but i guess i will get that later so i can have something for Christmas.

When i was reading up on the new CD at BestBuy, i noticed they had a new DVD out that had all of their music videos, so i picked that up as well and saw they also had a CD called "Greatest Hits." I picked the Greatest hits up just because I had to. It also looked funny because the cover is of a boxer getting punched and i was in a supportive mood for them. No clue if they will even get any of the money i spent, which would be a shame if they don't. :( I hope they do, though.

Seems the greatest hits cd was out for some time, but i never saw it before:

Here was the music video DVD i picked up as well, which had an excellent Victorian Era design inside and out:

I think the only thing i don't have is the Box set, so i will probably get that for Christmas as well.

And now, time for a good chuckle:
It took forever for me to find the Music DVD, because the aisle was nearly empty, not labeled, and i swear it looked like it was just like one of those holding aisles where they were reshuffling stuff between aisles and I had to spend about 15 minutes going up and down the aisle reading all of the titles sideways across the rows. After I did that i was quite mad, even though it said the store had it in stock, so i figured ok let me go back and check each one AGAIN. I was scanning the top row and was trying to remember what the case looked like. It was black, obviously, but i was trying to look for the gold text on the spine. I saw nothing of the sort, but came across a completely black spine and I decided to actually pick it up and check to see which DVD it was and sure enough it was the only one. Someone apparently flipped the DVD the other way so that the open part was showing, which obviously doesn't have any writing on the open side opposite of the spine. :o

Heard their new single on the radio and I could've swore it was the original singer. :o Sounds great. Still wish Layne was alive though. :(

Yeah, on a few songs it sounds just like his voice.

I have only had a chance to listen to the first 4 songs so far.

It's a solid album. The new guy has a good voice. It doesn't feel like he's doing an impression or anything. Honestly, I've never been a fan of the vocal harmony that's in so much of AIC's music. And there's plenty of it here.

Still, it's the kind of album I can listen to more than one time in a row. It's probably the first AIC release I've enjoyed since Dirt, though it certainly isn't in the same league as DIrt or Facelift in the song writing category.

I still can't get over how amazing this album is. They really pulled off one of the hardest to do feats in music history.. not only coming back from what seemed like the end, but creating an album that is 100% true to it's previous work.

William DuVall is probably the best (I hate to use this word) "replacement" for Layne that they could have possibly picked. No one could ever really "replace" Layne Staley, but he does a good job succeeding him. They made a great choice.

If I had no idea that Layne had passed, I swear it would be easy to mistake him for the master himself.

My favorite band has resurrected itself, not to mediocrity, but excellence.

I think Layne would be proud, rock on my brother.. rock on.

Cool, I need to finish listening to my CD as well.

I was watching a few youtubes with Cantrell and there was one from MTV Cribs where it showed his ranch/farm in Oklahoma.

That is really cool and i guess it looks like he has nothing to worry about, as far as having a home and/or money. Looks like he is quite self-sufficient and is doing this pretty much just for the sake of creating music.

I saw in a a recent video that he said they plan to tour about a year and a half after the CD's release.
