I know there are quite a few FEAR fans here so I thought I might as well try here.

If I was to go back and replay an earlier level in FEAR 2 and collect a Reflex pack that I had missed the first time... will it update my character if I then load the latest level?

Basically I missed one or two packs and was wondering if I have restart from the first level that I missed it on... or... just load that level, collect the reflex pack, finish that level... then load the latest/furtherest save game?

make sense?

Yes.
The reflex boosters and intel all collect throughout the whole game. When you start a brand new game, your reflex boosters remain.
So, yes, you can drop back... play an earlier chapter and collect any reflex booster or intel you need to.
But... FEAR 2 only has one save file spot. So, when you go to an earlier chapter it will save over your current save... so before you do drop back, finish whichever chapter you are currently on.

That way, after you've played the earlier chapter you can just sellect the newest chapter and continue your game.

Thanks!

Btw, I purposely didnt read any FEAR 2 discussions after launch since I didnt have the game back then. Since you are quite fond of Lith, what are your thoughts on the lack of a lean function even though you can clearly see your enemies doing it?

Doesn't bother me.
Leaning added a bit of a tactical feel to the game's combat. Giving you the ability to cover yourself and still take out your enemies.
But removing it forced you to be more direct with your enemies... engaging them head on. Making the combat a bit more kinetic and in your face.

So, ultimately... I'd say I'm happy that they removed the lean function. I honestly didn't use it much in the original game, so I wasn't sad to see it go this time around.
And, IMO, FEAR's combat works so much better when you run straight into it instead of hide back and lean around corners. ;)

i wish they would let us choose what buttons we wanted to use for slidekick...

They do.
You can remap all controls in the game. The slidekick is performed by pressing the melee key while running. So just remap your melee and run keys.

no, what i would like to do is switch it back to the old way where its crouch and melee.

Removing lean felt like a good idea, but since AI is doing it, it only feels stupid for the player not to be able to do the same. Especially on hard, when you only need 1-2 shots to die in best scenarios.

..well just clocked it. (yeah i know im late to the party)

**SPOILERS**

* Didnt like no lean, especially since enemies did it.

* Saved my ammo from the Pulse gun and rocket launcher for nothing! The RL was at least useful when taking down Mechs earlier, needed more of that "player on foot" vs mech encounters in the later levels. The Pulse gun.. used it once... it was great.. saved ammo for tougher enemies like the nailgun dudes... they hardly showed up(and when they did show up, it was during the "control the turret" sections). Assualt Rifle killed 99% of enemies.

* Mech section was fun initially but then got old since you were pretty much invincible.

* Intel items. FEAR1 had it so much better with the audio logs, at least it game the NPCs some character/personality.

* Game "Ending" .... I punched the first guy I saw in the nuts after witnessing it.

Pretty much agree with the ZeroPunctuation review.

The positive... as least it ran smoothly mostly capped at 60fps @ 1920x1200 on my old 8800gtx with x4AA. (disabled their crappy implementation of SSAO). Oh and the Assualt rifle sounded great.

I sure others will disagree... this is just IMO.:)

what?? what the **** is wrong with the ending? it was amazing. i dont think ive seen a game end is such an original way since half life 2. if you want a cut and paste copy of every other game out there than dont play the f.e.a.r. series.

FEAR 2's ending was really good IMO. I know a lot of people weren't happy with it because it didn't wrap up the story, but instead left it open.
Which it's supposed to. There will be future installments in the FEAR series.

Personally, I loved FEAR 2's ending.

Well I didnt need it to wrapped up ala Hollywood endings but some sense of accomplishment or closure for a certain chapter would be nice. This felt more like a Episodic ending.

Also are we to presume your character from FEAR1 dies in the potential helicopter crash ending since Lith pretty much dumped him for part 2?

part 2 has nothing to do with the main character of part 1.

Who said everybody died in the crash? ;) Given how FEAR 2 starts it would've been impossible to play as the Point Man for it, FEAR 2 starts while the Point Man is down in the Vault at the end of the first FEAR.
The Point Man is still an extremely strong player in the FEAR series, but the events in FEAR 2 needed to be setup for the next chapter in the story.

The Point Man is coming back, don't worry about that. But, the events between Alma and Beckett (and Paxton in Reborn) needed to be told.

I won't spoil anything, until you've finished FEAR 2: Reborn, but trust me... the setup for FEAR 3 is perfect. Three sides to the battle. ;)

Thats why I said "potential" crash... but anyway:D

oooo... is Reborn continuing the story directly after Fear 2 ended?:)

Damien_Azreal

Reborn takes place at the same time as the events in FEAR 2. Just at different locations in the city. But it's events will directly effect FEAR 3... and Alma.

has fear 2 sold well? I think not as well as the first one...

FEAR 2 sold very well actually. Nothing ground breaking, but it's sales were solid.

Poor PR for the game, that's one big reason.

Mechbattles weren't just run & gun on hard, but the game is less of a game when played on normal - you can just run & gun through the game! It gives no challenge.

Ending was perfect, and as said, the stories are parallel. Although, the final fights were hard(on hard at least).

Jesus is your life as depressed looking as your avatar? I wasnt presuming shit, it was a genuine question directed at DA whose posts seem to be a hell of lot more helpful than your "efforts" so far.
