This looks pretty nice. Reminds me of Far Cry. You can test it under DirectX 9, 10, 10.1 and OpenGl. Only 59 megs. Check it out. (http://www.unigine.com/download/)
It's nice to have an alternative to 3DMark. It seems to me that 3D demos have disappeared over the last couple of years. You'd think with the card doing most of the work they would get easier to make. :)

Sounds neat, downloading now :)

Theres now a dx 11 (dx 9 and dx10 also) demo from unigine it shows how impressive tessellation can make a game look if used intensively. Tesselation only works on dx 11 mode and with dx11 cards.

Nice!

Is there a DirectX 11 SDK I can download? When I try to run the demo in DX11 mode, it exits, saying that it can't find the d3d11 library. When I run the DirectX webupdate, it doesn't install anything new and exits, says everything is fine.
The demo runs fine in DX10 but I was curious to see if there was a framerate difference in DX11.

Do you have a ATI Dx 11 card? And if so do you have the latest ATI drivers?
Also try this dx sdk.

But you need a dx 11 card to play the demo in that mode.

I have a 5870, which supports DirectX 11. I also tried the latest ATI drivers.
I believe DX11 ships with Windows 7 so it looks like I'll have to wait until I get my Windows 7 DVD.

Well DX11 is supposed to work with Vista. I tried searching the MS website but I couldn't find any download for it.

Thats strange on the unigine site they only have as a requirement a dx 11 GPU not windows 7, but maybe that is something they forgot to put there, lets see if other people with vista and a dx 11 card as the same problem.
By the way did you tried the dx sdk that i posted above? On the "what is new" section it says it brings dx 11 support.
This version of the DirectX SDK contains the following new features, tools, and documentation.
Direct3D 11 RTM
The August 2009 DirectX SDK contains the first official release of the DirectX developer resources for Direct3D 11, DXGI 1.1, Direct2D, and DirectWrite. Developers can now publish and distribute Direct3D 11 applications and games that leverage all of the software and hardware features of DirectX 11 in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

DX 11 won't work for me either. Got a strange error message.
On the "Sanctuary" demo, I got a "fatal error" and the thing crashed alltogether. Could it be that that part it older and can't recognise the new ATI cards?

You don't have DX11 installed.

I'm not sure it's even possible right now with Vista 64. I tried the huge SDK download. It installed the tools just fine but wouldn't update DirectX. It still shows 10.1

I installed Windows 7 this afternoon. The demo works fine in DX11, now.

Is there any difference in appearance or speed with Win7 and/or DX11?

It's makes a big difference:

Tesselation Off

Tesselation On
Having tesselation on is a lot slower but it looks a lot nicer. The wireframes look a lot denser in this demo than they need to be. (i.e. objects at the medium to far range still have a huge poly count). There may be an option to adjust this, somewhere.

Thanks :)
Also no need to use the workaround posted by me above if you have sp2, dx11 for vista is out, windows update did that automatically today for me. And now the Unigine demo works.
my score

dx11 render works for me but is exactly like dx10 no tessellation.

It's makes a big difference:
Oh wow, thats really cool. I'll have to grab me a DX11 card when some games start popping up. ;)

I hope game developers don't go over the top with this. They tend to do that whenever a major new graphics feature becomes available. Some surfaces are meant to be smooth.
