I think this will be good, I love the 1968 novel by P.K. Dick and the whole shabaz he gave to the Sci Fi world which Riddly Scott captures well in this movie.

What the hell are you talking about, the final cut has been out for 1-2 years already
I've seen it in high definition. I think that dec18 date might be 2007 or 2008.

Warner Brothers has been trying for decades to squeeze every possible penny out of this movie without actually creating any new content.

I don't really see your point NutWrench, they had the original Theatrical Cut, then they had the (not) Directors Cut, which i think was only out on laserdisc. Then the newly released Final Cut which is the only version to have been released in High Definition.
I don't see how it differs from any other film that has been released on multiple formats. Films from the 80's have usually been out on VHS, later on DVD and recently on Blu Ray.

I thought it was pretty obvious. Warner Brothers has released multiple versions of this movie already and are cynically expecting people to shell out money for yet another copy of the exact same product. Some folks have money to burn, and don't mind buying the "super-duper extra special limited collectors box edition." But there's nothing new here except a marginal increase in quality.

Yeah, the Final Cut was released a while back. This is nothing new really.

Aren't other versions on blu-ray also in HD? Never tried watching them, though.

Yes this is old, because I bought the final cut last year.
From Wikeh:
Ridley Scott's Final Cut (2007, 117 minutes), or the "25th Anniversary Edition," released by Warner Bros. theatrically on October 5, 2007 and subsequently released on DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-ray in December 2007 (U.K. December 3; U.S. December 18).[9] This is the only version over which Ridley Scott had complete artistic control as the Director's Cut was rushed and he was not directly in charge.[101] In conjunction with the Final Cut, extensive documentary and other materials were produced for the home video releases culminating in a five-disc "Ultimate Collector's Edition" release by Charles de Lauzirika.[8]
edit:
also, here is the original thread about it from 2006:

I still haven't seen the Final cut, although I did watch the Director's Cut not long ago and I must say that it is the most visually impressive film that I've seen.

Yeah, for a second there I was about to scoff at the idea that they were doing a second "Final Cut." At that point, they'd be taking a page from the various Friday the 13th movie titles, I.E., "The Final Chapter," "The Final Friday," etc.

Quite frankly, there are more visible differences between theatrical and director's cuts than between director's and final. Depends on how many times you watched, though.
Also, problem with the number of replicants was corrected.

Plus the Final Cut was digitally colorgraded, so a lot of the discrepancies in colors when they blend matte painting and live action has been fixed so they blend together much better etc.

by 2021, the world war had killed millions, driving entire species into extinction and sending mankind off-planet. Those who remained coveted any living creature, and for people who couldn't afford one, companies built incredibly realistic simulacrae: Horses, birds, cats, sheep. . . They even built humans.
Emigrees to mars received androids so sophisticated it was impossible to tell them from true men or women. Fearful of the havoc these artificial humans could wreak, the government banned them from earth. But when androids didn't want to be identified, they just blended in.
Rick deckard was an officially sanctioned bounty hunter whose job was to find rogue androids, and to retire them. But cornered, androids tended to fight back, with deadly results.
awesome !!111!

IIRC Paroxysm referred to this as the "Fxck everything else edition" :D
But yeah, it's been out for a while now and is the only edition to own.

No, it does not.

Thats the original name of the 1968 novel mentioned in the first post. The novel in itself is one of the greatest Science fiction stories ever told, a masterpiece.

I like how they animated hair onto the stunt women who ran through the glass as she was getting F'ked up by Deckards handgun. If you remember she just wore a wig in all the previous versions of Bladerunner. they also touched it up to the point of pure awesome with the fx. the 4 hr 2nd disc is an extra treat that makes it win win.

Too bad the extras disk is in SD. Although, that's an awesome release. That's how you should re-release a movie. Also, they still included theatrical release which Scott hates all the same.
