I just bought Max Payne yesterday, and already I'm having problems.
What happens is this: when any of my enemies or I fire a Beretta, Desert Eagle, or most weapons, I can't hear the shot. However, if I point the gun at the ceiling, I hear it fine.
Also, when in in-game cut scenes (I.E. Finito Brothers before getting in gunfight), when the screen shifts to certain angles I can't hear a thing.
I have a Creative SB PC1512 sound card. I installed Direct X 8.0A. I've tried pretty much anything I can think of, but the sound won't fix.
Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, how did you fix it?
I don't wanna beat the Finito brother's hotel because I'm scared I won't be able to hear any cutscenes in the future. images/icons/mad.gif
Thanks,
Korben

Oh right, and I have EAX (Environmental Audio) as well. This may be a contributor to the problem.

EAX can create this problem. I had it with Half-Life, I think I turned off EAX to fix it, but it doesn't always help. If it doesn't use the cd default drivers for your soundcard, not the updated ones from the net. Seems the cd drivers are better. Except from that I don't know what can be the cause, many ppl experience this. Be sure that your soundcard doesn't conflict with anything else...
