I have a solution that may help some of you who can't get MP to start and get past the load sequence before getting dumped back onto the desktop.

I posted before about getting kicked back to the desktop when trying to start MP. I have spent a large quantity of time trying to resolve this issue and I haven't been helped by our pals at Remedy. Such is life...maybe they will put out a patch for this in the future.

Here is what I have done...

Step 1: I disabled the sound card in the device manager to see if MP would play without sound. Of course, it did. This is the same SBLive that has worked with every other 3d game that has come out but apparently MP requires too many resources for the SBLive to work properly

Step 2: I removed the sound card through device manager without restarting my machine.

Step 3: I uninstalled all of the SBLive software that was installed by the installation CD

Step 4: I rebooted the system and it automatically detected new hardware

Step 5: Instead of reinstalling the Creative Software from the CD, I let the computer search for just the drivers it needs to operate the card. I think I actually had to browse the CD for them. They end up being in a sub-sub folder on the CD

Once the driver is found, windows installs it and viola, no more MP crashes back to the desk top.

I hope this helps somebody so they don't go through the same Payne I have. Good Luck.
