So, I've been watching episodes of this quite recently. And alright, I've been at least somewhat of a closet environmentalist for most of my life, am kinda up in the air about animal rights (sheesh, we've got to eat SOMETHING that is a living thing in order to survive), but I'm opposed to sending anything into extinction. But tree-hugger or not, I'm getting some very sick enjoyment out of this show. The idea of screwing with an industry the way that these guys do just caters way too much to my mischievous side.
I feel like I'm watching some adult equivalent of toilet-papering a house... where sometimes the owners of the house retaliate with live ammo and concussion grenades. It's given me a lot of good laughs. The idea that its possible to cost corporations millions of dollars a day with little more than childish antics makes it even more amusing.

Whale Wars makes me support Japanese whaling efforts. Screw Sea Shepard and their stupidity. They seriously get nothing done at all.

What the japanese do is no different than what most western countries would do with chickens, cows and pigs (FUKKA YOU CHIKEEN AND COOW!) except I think a more suitable alternative would be to breed their own dolphins in aquariums for the purposes of food and skin/textures. Thus there's no complaining about them "driving the animals to extinction" because they'll have their own supply while the rest roam free.
Ofcourse that's probably what they do already, many just enjoy the "hunt" like many others enjoy hunting in the wild. Still think an abundance of dolphin killing aquariums is a more suitable alternative.

It's a good thought, but there's very likely something about mating/breeding habits and migration behavior which would make that impossible. I'm sure the practicality of farming large sea animals has been investigated and researched.
I'm sure the japanese can bioengineer their way through the cons of such a procedure. :p

But then there'd be complaining about "you let them live in cages just to kill them :("
People just care more about dolphins and whales than cows and chickens because the first two are (so I hear) more intelligent.. and probably more self-aware. And of course, if you look at a cow.. what else can you do but eat it? Pathetic beasts..
