Max Payne Crashes

can someone please help me!!
I have the max payne demo and whenever i go to play it i press start on the config. screen and then it just freezes with the window header thingy at the top of the screen and i have to restart. I can only play it when sound is disabled in the setup screen and i really want to get it working.
I have a very good computer - here are basic specs(i dont know bout drivers or stuff like that - its my dads pc)

Athlon 1.5Ghz
256Mb RAM
GeForce 2 MX
Creative Labs AWE64 (version 4.38)

I think it might be something to do with the sound card or drivers or something but any help would be greatly appreciated.

why don't u just get the full game remember a demo is not the finished atricle so that might be causing the problem also update the geforce2 mx driver, dont get the new one though alot of people have had problems with that(me included)get the driver number 12.41 thatis very reliable for max payne(worked for me)good luck.
