Dragon Age : Origins

Pretty fun so far, feels kinda like Mass Effect set in a high fantasy realm with some Baldurs Gate aspects thrown in. Love the scripting and cutscenes! :-)

I started the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4 on my Wii and ended up playing for four hours without intending to. I got through the farmhouse siege and stopped. I'm not sure I'd buy the Wii version. Zoomed in, this looks just fine on my TV, and standard wireless controls mean I can play in bed. With IR controls, I'd have to be sitting in a chair or something.

Just tried the following games on my new PC:


Assassin's Creed - ZOMG, 60FPS at 1680res with DX10, zero lag wohooo!!

Stranglehold - from the creative team that brought us Psi-Ops. If only Chow Yun Fatt had telekinetic abilities like Nick Scryer. Still a fun game to play on a rainy day.

Condemned - lead pipe meet face, face meet lead pipe, **smack**!

Rise & Fall - patched it up to version 1.15, runs at full speed with everything turned on but yeah it's a 2005 game, still, I kinda dig those hybrid RTS games.

Tomb Raider Legend - Next Gen mode looks impressive, wish I could change the aspect ratio to display borders on my 16:10 monitor.

Gears of War - the only game that locked up, thankfully I was able to get back to the desktop(I love you Windows 7) and manage to run it again. The usual DX10, full settings. Yeah.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance - super shiny all over.

Gun - the ugliest among all of them, has framerate issues.

Dead Space - I'm kinda obsessed on how the game engine treats the texture for fabric. Issacs pants/suit bends like real clothing. Super amazing. But at the same time I understand why PC gamers hate this game. The mouse lag with Vsync is horrible. And the fact that EA refuses to admit this is even more frustrating. Sad to see the sequel is console exclusive.

You can look up the meanings of the red text here (http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki).

It seems like the new patch makes all of the "for sale" weapons level 50+ so I'll have to get the DLC eventually. They also reset your XP if it was over the required XP to hit level 50.

Moar Killzone 2. This game is just what you'd expect from a piss-poor shooter garnished with high production values.

Did the creators actually think they were being clever with these boss battles?? Take the atac battle on the roof for example. The whole situation is retarded to begin with, you're sitting ducks inside the building so the player is shoved to the ROOF ALONE to take on the incredibly uninteresting, generic hunk of flying metal and missiles.

And the mechanic... "Try shooting the coils on the side!" Jesus f'in C! :D

I need to start thinking before buying. This would be the second game in a row for PS3 that I bought which I just can't bear to finish. Good thing it was dirt cheap.

Game sure crashes alot at the research labs, and i am forced to play on a tiny screen resolution to make it playable... Else a fatal graphical glitch will kick in where framerate drops like -8 billion FPS and every surface of the map disappears... Yeah, fun...

Playing on a lower resolution is no more fun either, it's lagging, because, get this, it only runs perfectly on HD resolutions for me . . . Otherwise it runs perfectly fluent, but just stops... and then runs fine, and then stops, and repeat... It's not the typical "every 10 seconds" stop-thing either, it happens randomly, mostly when i enter a new area, or when i ... turn... But never when i stand stil, no matter how busy the screen is at whatever i look at... runs fine, but when i move and look somewhere els,e that's where it does it again... I breaks the flow and mood completely... but is necessary for me to actually beat this map... And even then, it causes a tremendous amount of crashes...

I sure love the game, but it ******* hates my PC, or me...

I think it might be a memory issue... or ******* Windows ******* vista...

Borderlands - The secret armory of General Knoxx.

Been busy robbing/farming the armory using the known glitch that lets you rob the place without any time-limit (you can drop through the floor right before the hallway to a computerroom inside the fort like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-uf3MFsFNU)). This add-on has been absolutely awesome in all ways.

Finished Gothic II

Finished with my character at Level 41, 133 Strength/105 Dexterity, had the 2nd best armor in the game, had the best one-handed sword and the best bow in the game...I pretty much walked all over the last boss. 16 minutes shy of how long I predicted the campaign would take me (60 hours).

Amazing, amazing RPG. Loved the challenge, loved the open-ness, and the story was pretty good.

I see, that's kinda of disappointing... However, i figured that putting texture quality to medium instead of very high makes it run perfectly again, without having to change resolutions... Still weird how lower resolutions make it run worse than a high one though ...

I'll also have to change texture quality back to very high everytime i play MP, sine in there it can look good AND run perfectly fine... Bothersome, but it works at least... Hope they release more DLC's with some species specific missions, rather than giving all of them the same damn map where the story crosses over... it's cool to some extend, but not if every mission, and every species, shares the same areas... this kind of recycling feels weak if it's being overused like this... I mean, it's one thing to say "hah, i recognize this place, i was here as marine"... But it's tiresome going through the same area with a diferent mission and different exit, but still, the same goddamn location...

Hell, i didn't mind mini boss fights at all, i love that, but why all of them in the darn arena..?! Was cool the first time, felt recycled the second time as predator, and it felt epically disappointing that you went there again as Alien... What the hell draws you into that place, and why 3 times in a freaking row..? I liked the arena, but it felt less special when it was being revisited so much... I guess i would have preferred a mini boss fight for all species, but not in the same arena... Just for the sake of variety

Still love the game though, the levels are repetitive, but i can't look away from the working game mechanics and controls, i think they nailed how to control an Alien and Predator just fine...

Before you get started, remember that the recommended steps are:

1. Install S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl.
2. Patch S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl to v1.0005.
3. Launch & exit the game at least once.
4. Uninstall any previous versions of Stalker Complete 2009
if you have them installed.
5. Run Stalker Complete 2009 v1.4.3 Setup.exe.
6. Start a new game.
7. Finish the game.
8. Uninstall Stalker Complete 2009.

I've been wanting to play it again for a long time, but the sound never worked on my Intel Mainboard - so I just added a sound card - a cheap 7.1 with a C-Media 8738 chip

Rapture is awesome. I give the title of best game ever back to Bioshock now that I'm playing it again.

I got the graphics cranked up and the environment is just an unmatched work of art.

I found Bioshock to be an excellent game, aside from some sound issues which I've been told only happened under Vista and Windows 7. So I might try it on my XP machine or run the program in compatibility mode for XP SP2 as well as an administrator.

thing doesn't stop firing once you fire it, and it empties your magazine pretty fast, despite firing a whopping 536 bullets in one go...

it's great going overkill with this gun... It kills most things before they get the chance to reach you :D

Played through Alpha Prime for a few days... I did about 2/3 of the game and enjoyed it, was a $5 (3 year old) game, so I wan't expecting much. They set up the mobs of baddies so that the last third would have been a rediculous grind of reloads and trips to the oxygen dispenser. I got through the buggy driving, but there is a frustrating spot wher they try to hang you up through multiple suffications and watching the load save bar... There is a slow time feature when you use the "Hubbardium", but I can't stand it - makes everything blurry and your controls go drunk mode. So I used the cheat and blasted everything in site with the rocket launcher in inmortality mode. Couldn't resist racing to the end.

Not really a bad game, I would have preferred more content and more 4WD buggy driving on the planet rather than bullying the player into crawling progression.

Playing Star Trek: Online at the moment. I've already canceled my account. I'm just trying to get my money's worth until the month runs out.

It's not a horrible game or anything. Once I figured out what was going on it was fun. It's just a little rigid for me. The ground combat feels mechanical. Space combat is okay, it just seems to take longer than I'd like.

It would've been better as a single player game that focused on your crew members. As it is, all you can do in your ship is walk around the bridge. You can't even sit in the Captain's chair.

The game took a bit longer for me on the hardest difficulty. Wasn't the best game ever, but deserved more than the 1's and 2's that it got. I had a lot of fun with the multiplayer over XBL, and who can forget the infamous rap.

I don't see how anyone would want to replay this game. 50+ hours of taking 5 steps and running into 5-10 enemies, another couple steps, another handful of enemies. Played some more Oblivion. One of the mods I'm using lets you help rebuild Kvatch and one of the mods characters, Ignar Rodblock (:D) will approach you from time to time to inform you of a new quest you can perform to get the city rebuilt. Problem is, there's no constraints on where he can go to find you.

So I'm in one of the planes of Oblivion. At the top of the tower. I'm just about to remove the Sigil Stone and Ignar comes running up and says, "you're hard to find!" Now that's dedication!

Not too fond of the Metro Stations. Sure they succeed at making the game world feel huge but it's full of copy-pasta level design and it's just not that interesting to walk through.

The similarities with Oblivion are obvious, but I feel like the game feels more like a much polished version of Morrowind than Oblivion. I swear walking through the metro tunnels feels like exploring Mournhold's sewers. I can see myself having a lot of fun with this one :)

And it's funny... Serious Engine 2 is hugely superior to the CryEngine. But, SS2's art style hides a lot of the engines potential.

The Serious Engine 3 is also an amazing piece of technology. And even Croteam have said they haven't had the chance to show it off properly yet, they are hoping to really show what it's capable off with Serious Sam 3.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter. Nice to know that the chainsaw can hurt enemies for as long as they are standing very close to you, no matter you're actually touching them with the saw or not. Found a couple of missing spawning enemies too. I also think it's a bit harder to see how far the flames from the new flamethrower are reaching compared to the old one.

Looks like the cutscene at the end of the Cidatel level is missing/broken (just one of the several bugs I came across, mostly enemy spawns missing compared to the original). Oh, and the sniper rifle got more powerful in zoom mode.

There, finished it. Excellent remake that stayed true to the original although there are plenty of small mistakes left to fix.

The ending cutscene is there. The Citadel level cutscene is glitched, it sometimes shows... sometimes doesn't.

I've also been taking screenshots of the 2001 version and the new HD version and I just couldn't help but to notice how the original had much more colour and even sharper textures sometimes. Example below;

Yeah, the Grand Cathedral in the original does look far more interesting and epic than in the HD version. This is something that has been posted a lot at the SeriousZone forums.

It seems, that TSE HD version feels almost rushed out. The opening levels look great, the geometry in a lot of areas in the first few levels is really improved and looks amazing.
But towards the middle of the game the levels start to feel rather blocky, and almost like they were ripped straight from TSE instead of getting a full HD remake.
Like Croteam hurried to get TSE out quickly to follow up TFE's release. And to give them more time to work on SS3 before it's scheduled release at the end of the year.
