Metal legends IRON MAIDEN have revealed the title of their new album, THE FINAL FRONTIER and details of their highly anticipated 2010 North American tour, announced Live Nation today. With 22 dates confirmed, the Live Nation promoted tour will open in Dallas, Texas, on June 9 and finish in Washington D.C. on July 20, making it their most extensive North American tour in many years. (Full confirmed dates below.)
The North American Tour dates are:

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson, "We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven't visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn't get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It's also great news that our friends DREAM THEATER are able to join us as special guests."
Dream Theater isn't playing in Winnipeg though.
Hell yeah!
Hope they release something more interesting than AMOLAD.. :)

AMOLAD was awesome. Sure it was the same basic sound that came from Brave New World that they did then in Dance of Death, but it was ******* awesome.
I didn't like AMOLAD much. Best of their 2000 albums was Dance of Death IMO.

AMOLAD and Brave New World were much better than Dance of Death overall.
But that doesn't matter. Maiden rules, Maiden stays true to their music and they kick ass.

Brighter Than a Thousand Suns?
The Longest Day?
For the Greater Good of God?
THE LEGACY???? HOW THE F*** CAN THIS SONG NOT BE ANY BETTER??? It's their best and most unusual track since Dickinson/Smith's return!
I mean Brave New World is a good album and Dance of Death does come pretty close to perfection, but AMOLAD is great as well...
Yeah The Legacy is a great song, I agree with that, but I don't really care much for the rest of the album with the exception of some parts in For The Greater Good of God and The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg.

How can you not care for The Longest Day? It's so epic.

I disagree. While I liked both albums, none of the songs moved me as much as Dance of Death, No More Lies and Passchendale did. Power metal masterpieces, all 3 of them.

I dunno I just don't lol, maybe it's the chorus being repeated ad infinitum or something.

They're not exactly power metal. Hell, I've heard AMOLAD be called prog metal, but **** that. Iron Maiden is Metal. It's still NWOBHM to me.

Chorus is awesome.

For some reason, whenever I listen to AMOLAD I zone out and the songs kind of blend into one long song. I can only vaguely remember snippits here and there.
Of the post-reunion albums, Brave New World still feels the most complete to me. I can loop that album a few times. Dance of Death has the strongest songs. Dance of Death and Montsegur are my favorite. AMOLAD just never grabbed me.
I'll buy the new one. That's a given though.

I honestly have NO idea about sub genre. I listen to a bunch of different styles of metal music and I just regard them all as metal. I'll make an exception when it comes to the big 4 being thrash, but these days it's all just metal to me.
El Dorado is..pretty meh. Need to let it sink in.

I was always a huge Maiden fan, played their sings on guitar live in stage a few times and everyone else loved it too. I think the second album after Powerslave was when they lost me. I haven't heard a new song of theirs in like 15 years.

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son lost you? More like, you must've gotten lost. That album is ******* awesome from start to finish.

Seventh Son is my favorite Maiden album. Epic album in every way. The songwriting is amazing, the vocals by Dickinson are his best work ever imo and the instrumentals are of course killer. :D
Powerslave is a close second.
Zuljin-those links are down. :(

Indeed, listen to it a few times. It was my thought as well... not like The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg (the first song they released for their previous album) which blew me away instantly :o

This song is much better. Bruce sounds more like from Brave New World than A Matter of Life and Death, and while I really like A Matter of Life and Death, Brave New World is much better, in my opinion.
This single is more reminiscent of Rainmaker and Wicker Man than Benjamin Breeg and I like that. I'm already hooked on this song. Listening to it on loop constantly in my car, on my computer, and in bed on my Zen.
Iron Maiden sucks.

Yes it really has the same sound as Wicker Man and A Different World.. while the rest of the songs on those albums have a totally different sound, I wonder why :o

Most Maiden albums have different sounds. Take a look at SSoaSS, you get Can I Play With Madness? which is much more happy sounding than the others.
As for saying that the other songs on Brave New World vary from Wicker Man, that's not true. You have The Mercenary which sounds similar. I would consider the Fallen Angel in the same vein. Oh, and definitely Out of the Silent Planet.
Now I have to add Brave New World to my current playlist. I feel like listening to that awesome-ness now. :D

Just saw em. Theater was great as usual. Maiden was great. Both played mostly new stuff.

Mostly new stuff? Maiden played exactly one new song on the current tour, the setlist is plastered all over the Internet.

Over half the songs are from 2000 and up. They have 30 year history.

Oh, I thought you meant what everyone else would have meant when saying a band played new stuff. 10 year old songs from Brave New World are not considered new stuff. :p

In all fairness to Maiden I pretty much stopped getting new music around that time. Yeah I would get the biggies like Guns and Roses or Nirvana but in general wasn't buying much music after my late 20's.
