Tried all the suggestions in faq etc game kept crashing even after patches. Very frustrating!
However had to format drive for different reason, & reinstall win98se, since game has run great with no crashes !
Wonder if problem is with os ?
Seems extreme measure, would not have done it but for another problem but glad I did.

It could have been any of the gazillion things. The operating systems just gather an incredible amount of stuff from all the installs/uninstalls to the system files and sooner or later there will be something that produces problems for another program. This is especially true when a computer is over a year old.

The difficult part then is for us to try to figure out what the problem could be in this particular computer and there is practically no way of us telling that. Perhaps we could not have helped you. And how many would take kindly a suggestion to format their drive/re-install the OS? Not very many...Yet that does work for some of the really problematic systems.

Mika totally agree with you I was about to give up on the game, after trying everything, so glad I had to format drive. I now realize my system was at fault, hope others read this, so they understand some problems are not your fault.
Still seems extreme fix!
Really is a great game, one suggestion might have been to provide alternate view i.e. first pearson.

There is, at least one, first-person view mod available. I think it was called multieep. It works very well, so check it out if you miss that first-person view...
