Hi everyone,
I am trying to decide whether or not I should buy Max Payne, I wanted to know if it is possible in the game to record videos of yourself playing in super slow-mo. I recently watched a trailer that came with duke nukem manhattan project and it showed alot of gun fights rotating and in super slow-mo even slower than bullet time. Just wanted to know if this is possible because I want to make some movies of this feature. thanks

eheheheh no,

but what I was trying to say was, can I make ummm u know, mpegs and stuff? record a demo like in first person shooters. with different camera angles though so I can see the bullet time. Btw, can I set the bullet time speed too?

thanks, sorry I didn't make myself clear heh

There is no action replay feature in Max Payne but if you have a video out in your display adapter you can record the game.

With the "developer mode" on, you can adjust the game speed freely. You can freeze the action and move the camera around to see the action from different angle.

hehe,
I've decided,
I'm gonna buy a copy.
correct me if I'm wrong, but is there a gold version or something coming out in July? If so I'll wait for that, I can save some money while I'm at it. images/icons/tongue.gif

As for the demo thing, you mean they actually used a video output to record its trailers? Touch work. Maybe I'll focus on getting that new GeForce 4 and esembeling a whole setup to do just that images/icons/grin.gif .

thanks everyone

That's the Macintosh version of Max Payne that has just gone gold.

That's correct, that's what we rented to record the gameplay videos. It provides better picture quality than plain video out. And costs an arm and a leg.

Hey Skaven,
you wouldn't happen to know the name of this program do you? I'm willing to sacrifice an arm and a leg images/icons/grin.gif

Does it work for other games too?

You can make videos in mpeg, DivX, avi etc WITHOUT a TV-out or VCR. Pretty simple. JUst put the game into developer mode and then slow it down, then take hundreds of screenshots as you play. All wil be saved under the screenshots directory of max payne. Then just get VideoMach (from www.gromada.com, (http://www.gromada.com) free for non-commercial use) and put em together.

Here's an example of a video made by the Max Powers team [of which Im a mapper images/icons/wink.gif ]featuring "gibbing" ala Quake 3. It was made using this technique mentioned above.

Oh, any you need the latest DivX codec (5.0.2)

Rama,
Hehee, your mod "Max Powers" just so happens to be similar to the name of a british car magazine "Max Power", half porn, half import car magazine. Just to tell you. graemlins/tinyted.gif

PS: that's some good actionscripting in the site. Also, the stripper in the mod is looking great. I remember playing Max Payne once at friend's place in a bar and there was the absence of strippers. images/icons/rolleyes.gif

I don't see how strippers are relevant to the story ....

Skaven, hehe I just noticed you work with Remedy images/icons/tongue.gif graemlins/doh.gif

Meglamaniac, do you own this program, or know anyone who has it? but I guess I can ask around, make another post or something.

Wow this is shaping out pretty good. If there's no gold coming out for the dos/win version then I'll pick this up next time I'm at the mall images/icons/grin.gif

Skaven can correct me on this.. but I thought those videos were done with what's called a digital VCR... instead of having video out on your video card, they plug this special vcr into the video card where the monitor plugs into... then the monitor daisy chain's off of the vcr...

oh.. and when you've played the game a thousand times... you might wanna try "the Killer" at killer.maxpayneheadquarters.com images/icons/wink.gif

Um its not my mod....ITs Pugwash, the teamleader's images/icons/smile.gif
If you knew the story then everything is relevant.

Amen to that images/icons/grin.gif

If you bought DN:MP and watched the trailer for DN4ever you would see at the end the realism. I'm thinking it's motion captured.

They are actually in TGa format, so yes shots might take 3-4 Gigabytes.
