Yes, you can!
Okay, I was nice enough to register just so I can answer this question. Then I'm adding a question of my own to it.
First, you need to activate "Mouse Keys" which is part of the Accessibility Options (located in the Control Panel). This will enable the Numberpad on your keyboard to act like the mouse pointer. You will need to adjust the acceleration and speed options all-the-way up to "fast" to get Max to look and aim fast enough to play.
*NOTE* In the Accessibility Options you can also select the "use keyboard shortcut" option to toggle Mouse Keys on and off using the Alt-Shift-NumLock keys on the keyboard. This works great!
Also, if you don't have Accessibility Options in the Control Panel, then it wasn't installed with Windows. Go to Add-Remove Programs, then select Windows Setup, and then select Details. You can then select and install Accessibility Options so you can use the "Mouse Keys" option.
Now you can use JUST the keyboard to play Max Payne. I hope it works out for you.
- Now for my question: Does anyone know how to map these "Mouse Keys" to a programmable joystick? I use a Wingman Rumblepad and can map everything but the mouse (or mouse keys). My controller still maps the numberpad keys as actual numbers even when mouse keys is activated.
Thanks to anyone who responds...

It will be a LOT harder to play using only the keyboard, since you'll only have 4-8 directions and you'll have to reach for each key every single little aiming adjustment, compared to just moving your wrist naturally images/icons/smile.gif . Good info though, dratedjedi. Eva, unless you're disabled, I'd highly recommend not even bothering to try the keyboard. If you thought the mouse was difficult to aim with, the keyboard is going to be a nightmare.

ooh ooh, I too would be interested in configuring the controls to use a game controller rather than a mousepad/keyboard, why its becoming less and less an option with the newer PC games is beyond me, nobody is still really trying to sneak gameplaying into their work cubicles are they??? After 8+ hours at the mouse & keyboard, I find myself desperately preferring to game with a gaming controller! (I could go rent MP for XBox and see how the rumble effect feels too I guess *LOL*)
