Max Payne install in XP

How do you install Max on XP?
Everytime I try to install I get a error message that says,
c:\windows\system32\confignt.This game will not run in msdos or ms windows apps.
I did a clean install of XP and left it at fat32.
Help please, because before I upgraded it was running great on 98SE.This game rocks.
XP is a piece of crap.

Hey, i had the same problem, what you need to do is go to the Windows update site, this tool will search for either device upgrades, or any other kind of upgrade that cour OS, you know what? i thought my drivers were up to the date, but guess what! they were not! I found out when I run the Windows update tool. It showed me that i had A LOT of devices to be upgraded, so i downloaded all the upgrades and MAx Payne runs nice and cool now. XP rocks is the best system i've seen so far.

Well I tried the update thing and it told me I had all the newest drivers.
But I still get the same error when I try to do an install.
Can anyone elde help.
I am running a p4 1.7
1 gig of ddr ram
Auidgy sound card
Gforce2Pro
