I recently updated my computer from Windows ME to Windows XP. When I upgraded i started to experience problems, such as:
1. In the main screen (The one where you select rusume game) the backround is all white.
2. While running the game all the lights are off, and therefore i cannot see any textures. But, if i throw a Molitove Coctail I can see the textures because it gives off light.
Please don't give me any of that Windows XP is great crap because i already know that. I have tried updating drivers to no avail. I also know that it is not my computer because it ran fine under Windows ME. I have also tried downloading the newest update/patch. If you have any ideas please let me know.

What hardware do you have, and what drivers are you using?
How did you install Windows XP? (Upgrade over WinME, clean install, dual-boot with WinME, etc...)
Max Payne works fine for me with Windows XP.
I'm using a clean install of the retail upgrade version, with all updates applied from Windows Update.
Hardware:
Annihilator 2 (GeForce 2 GTS 32 MB) using the drivers from the Creative Europe site that are based on nVidia's Detonator XP 21.85 drivers.
SoundBlaster Live! Platinum (Live!Drive not installed), using drivers originally installed with Windows XP, updated with drivers from Windows Update.
Some issues I've encountered and/or avoided:
Both the 21.83 and 21.85 WHQL Detonator XP drivers from nVidia caused a STOP error (Blue Screen of Death) when I attempted to run 3DMark 2001. This problem occurred with both the Release Candidate and final retail versions of Windows XP. Judging from newsgroup posts, this issue affects some users, but not others. Using the 21.85 drivers (not released to the public by nVidia) solved this issue for me.
Some components of existing versions of Live!Ware (and the drivers distributed with it) cause issues on some users' systems with both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Creative has released Windows XP-compatible drivers for some (but not all) of the Audigy and SoundBlaster Live! cards, and a Software CD will soon be available with updated versions of the applications formerly distributed with Live!Ware. Using the drivers distributed with Windows XP and Windows Update allowed me to avoid this issue entirely.

I have an integrated video card with 64mb allocated as video memory. I have 128mb of actual memory and a nifty hard drive that let me add 1 gig of hard drive space to be used as memory. I have an intel celeron 800mhz processor. The computer is an emachines. And im using the latest microsoft drivers. Oh and i upgraded to Windoews XP proffesional from Windows ME without doing anything first i just stuck in the cd and started it loading up. Hope this helps. If not my email is sureshot193@hotmail.com

When the screen goes white (or just some textures) in Max Payne, it means the graphics card is running out of memory.
If what you said is correct that you have 128MB memory in the system (the bare minimum for Windows XP) and you have an integrated graphics chip, you're pretty much pushing it...
The integrated chip you have on the motherboard (I presume it's Intel 8xx based motherboard, or one with a TNT/Savage class chip) consumes memory when you're running the game on it. All the memory that the graphics chip uses is away from the from the main memory. Eg, the game uses 32MB for textures right now, you're left with only 96MB for the game (and the operating system!).
The best solution is to just buy more system memory (128 or 256MB). It's very cheap nowadays and will get you a huge increase in performance in all programs, especially now that you're running Windows XP. If you can, I'd also recommend getting a graphics card (there are very good and cheap 32MB graphics cards available).
