View Full Version : Refresh rate problem on Max Payne

I've a 32mn RADEON ddr, and a K6-3 600MHZ with 256 mb of ram and windows 2000 sp2 prof. ed., the latest Ati 3281 drivers and a 107MB philips monitor, well if i paly max payne i could choose every resoltuion but I have always 60hz of refresh why I've update Ma x at the 1.02 patch but obviously I didn't receive any benefit.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP seem to have an issue with refresh rates, particularly with Direct3D and OpenGL.

I read a support post on one of the Microsoft newsgroups that explained it happens because the display driver queries the monitor directly, rather than using the values in the monitor's INF file, to set the refresh rate. Since many monitors aren't programmed to work this way, the driver defaults to 60Hz.

There's a refresh rate utility that can set each mode to the maximum rate, but it works only with nVidia adapters.

There's also a utility called Powerstrip that can set refresh rates for any monitor or display adapter.
