Ok, everybody (including 3DR and Remedy) what was your favorite chapter in the game, and what was your least favorite chapter in the game?

For me it would be;

Favorite: Tie between Aesir Corp. and Fear that gives men wings. (Alot of action in both)

Least Favorite: An offer you cant refuse (gets a little boring)

When Skaven finished the soundscape with final voice-overs, seeing the end cine and Max walking across the roof of Aesir to look down on the burning wreck of Horne's chopper was a moment where I just felt a huge feeling of accomplishment. We were like two weeks away from going gold, and at that time I knew that we had created something darn cool.

Now, whenever I watch that scene, I still get the same vibes :-)

And this might some weird, but the Garage map (which ends in Max killing BB) is probably my least favorite. I know that there's a lot of people who think that it's one of the best (and most action filled) maps in the game, but I still can't enjoy it. There's simply too little gameplay variation in there for me.

My favourite has to be the docks level. It has a really cool break up between sniping stealthily and bringing both Uzis ablazing..I wanted more of that kind of pacing in the game. There's always MP2 for that graemlins/wid.gif

My Fave is the first chapter - I remember the first time I played the game.

My least Fave would be Final chapter - I never wanted it to end...

I agree with petri, the garage level was one of my least favorite as well... However, the whole rooftop level, uh.. It's fear that gives men wings is really fun...

I've seen a few companies keep development journals and post them like once a week... I'd be really interested to see one for remedy... That tidbit about what you did 2 weeks before you went gold is really interesting... I guess I like that stuff... Anybody else go through the game and wonder "I wonder how long ago it was when they did that level?" I did.... images/icons/grin.gif

The beginning... When I first started getting dragged into the story. The chills down my spine when you heard Max's wife scream, the immense power you felt when you gunned down one of her murderers. And you were already into the story. Seriously, not a ****ing thing in the world except death of relatives, a free Porsche 911 Turbo, or a hellishly hot girl, could drag me away from the game then... images/icons/smile.gif

Hmmm.. I think my favorite is still the Hotel. It's just so laden with fun details and cool shootouts and topped with a nice gritty feeling to it. Rooftops & Alleys comes a close second.

Cold Steel, on the other hand, was a bit boring. My least favorite, that, or the blood trail mazes which almost drove me crazy as I kept falling off the trail.

LOL Amateur-Skaven images/icons/wink.gif I actually found the bloodtrails easy, at least it was easy to find the baby and woman sound with the Surround. I used about 4-5 minutes on the whole thing, didn't die once... Same with the fire in the restaurant, died 2 times there, used autosaving, but got through in 4-5 minutes, just had to admire the scenery a bit, all those great particle effects images/icons/grin.gif

In order: The intro-flashback; The burning restaurant; the Hotel; some rooftops and the garage. Tops off with a great ending- which ties to the beginning cutscene.

Oh and I liked the dream levels too. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubb/icons/icon107.gif

Now that I think about it, I love the opening cinematic. Cool stuff - ESPECIALLY the pan from the ground all the way up the building to Max's face.

OK now, everyone... repeat what you just said, on my site, The Max Payne Review (http://www.algonet.se/~lidbjork/maxpayne). Thanks! images/icons/smile.gif

My fave level? Well, to judge by the ratings I gave them on said site, they would be Roscoe Street Station, Live From The Crime Scene and Playing It Bogart. Also, I love all the tenement levels, especially Fear That Give Men Wings and Police Brutality.

I also really loved the intro and the end. Excellent feeling to it all. Very sad and horrifying at times, but also releaving and rewarding. It's a very artful game, the most beautiful I've seen ever. I can't wait to see MP2!!!

One of the best chopper sounds I've heard without it being an actual chopper there in front of me images/icons/smile.gif

I'd have to say I disliked the docks the most, but it was still enjoyable... It just couldn't compare to Part 3 cause i liked the building a lot. It got tricky at times, but thats what I liked about it.
