Updated...

For those who missed it, the price was $60 - $55 = $5, but
it has been updated to read $60. I got in on three copies.
My order has yet to be changed, and it hasn't been canceled. I guess
that it could be some sort of cryptic deposit notice or something.

Anywho, my order still stands. No notification of cancellation,
no back-ordered e-mail, and no change to my account. When
I placed the order, I did a good scan of the page, and saw
no indication that it was just a deposit for a pre-order.

Who else got in on this? Does your order look the same as mine?
What is your "order status"? Mine is "InProcess".

LOL, that's probably only for a preorder I think...that only goes TOWARDS the game, not for buying the game itself, read the small print.
That's how Best Buy preorders work, they aren't like preordering from an Amazon, or a Newegg, or from Steam. You have to pay the rest of the balance on launch day itself at the store, and must provide the printed information.
I should know, since I did that when I had to preorder Doom 3 from them back in 2004, I believe it was...maybe it was 2003, can't remember.

Cool. I don't really care for SC, and I'm going to assume they won't honour it, but I placed an order anyways. Nothing to lose.

Naw, it's the complete price for the game. It says:

Reg. Price: $59.99
You Save: $54.99
Sale: $5.00

I looked, and can't find something to suggest what you're stating.
Perhaps you can't take a look, and find the text for me?

I know what you're talking about, with the deposit thingie. It doesn't
state this anywhere on the page. I'm saving the page, as it currently
is, in case I have to dispute it at the store.

========================

Just wrap your mind around this idea: This ends up being for the actual game. Best Buy honors
the orders, and eats the loss, the massive loses. Blizzard sells a bazillion copies of Starcraft
2, because of BestBuy's error. Starcraft 2 insane "day one" purchase guarantees a quicker than
expected release of the second part of Starcraft 2! That would rock!

They have to honor the price even if it was a mistake.

It no longer exists so delete this thread.

Well, they won't let anyone pre-order the game, for the time being,
the price returned to normal, but my order still reads as $5 a piece,
along with the shipping cost, so I think that, assuming that they don't
cancel the order, I'll be getting three copies for super uber cheap.

Did anyone else get in on this? Does your order say anything different?
Over at "Cheap Ass Gamer", some are saying that they've received
"back ordered e-mails". I haven't received one, yet. Did anyone who
got in on this receive one, yet?

Since it's an unreleased product, I don't think they have to stick by that price. Usually for unreleased products they say "price may change."

I'm guessing that this may be the case, but I really hope not.
Only time can tell. As my previous post states, my order still
stands.

I ordered, haven't received any follow up emails though.

Official pricing and release date have not been announced by the publisher; these are estimates only and subject to change
disclaimer says they won't

disclaimer says they won't

They couldn't have been that must off.

What probably happened is that instead of taking $5 off,
the game was set to $5. Perhaps it was a disgruntled
employee.

Something like this happened before, I forgot where and what for, but the place didn't honor it.

Then people got mad.

It was Barnes & Noble, they had listed Bad Company 2 for cheap around its release. They announced that those who tried to selfishly exploit a pricing mistake at the store's expense are dishonest thieves, or something along those lines.

Yeah, they upped it to the right price of $60.

Yeah, unless it's your mistake, than it's your own fault, and you should suffer the consequences.

Stupid hypocrites.

Maybe they shouldn't automate everything and let the intern do the prices?
If the same thing happens in a physical store, it's obviously THEIR problem , and good luck with getting out of a contract by saying "i made a mistake and read those numbers wrong".
Bloody thieves who keep me to my contract!

I just got my cancellation notice. I figured that it was coming sooner
or later.

But like other people, my order is still in the system. I'm just going to remain
silent about this, and see what happens.

f#cking cancellation notices, what do they mean

maybe that my order is not cancelled, i guess i'll wait and see what happens

Glassagate

Could the cancellation notice itself be a scam? A group may know that
potential customers are considering the possibility that they may
receive a notice. When a person receives it, they figure that it
must be legit, and click on the link?

Either that, or BestBuy.com takes forever to cancel an order
manually.

I'm just going to sit this out. If on the 27th, BestBuy.com ships
my package, I'll be content, very content. Their goof up, their loss.

=============================

If some peoples' orders aren't cancelled, I'm curious how many scored.

UPDATE:

Well, mine was canceled, as well as others.

Oh well, at least we can dream, can't we? I'm backed up with
games to play. I'll be getting it sometime or another.
