MP Demo Won't Load!

I have the MP Demo, and a very good system. 1.2 Athlon w/ 256 MB of RAM and Radeon. However, when I launch the MP Demo, it freezes completly. The loading bar gets to about 35%, then the computer dies, and I have to reset. I've given it as much as 10 minutes, and still nothing. What's the deal?!

Whats your soundcard & motherboard chipset? If its a sblive and VIA then upgrade both drivers and expect more problems.. If you dont have a sblive or VIA chipset.. well ..upgrade the drivers anyway

I've got a Tyan Trinity MB and a SB PCI 512 soundcard.

Does it work with the sound disabled? All options/res/colour set low?

make sure you run max with no other apps open - press ctrl-alt-del and remove any from the list that arent systray and explorer and then try.

Also what opperating system do u have?

I'm running Win98. I haven't tried it with the options turned down. I can do that on the opening setup screen right?

What's the problem with SBLive and VIA? I just upgraded to AthlonXP on a Asus A7V66-E mb (which uses the VIA KT266A chipset) and a SB Live! When I try to run the demo it freezes at a black screen w/ a white mouse pointer. I was planning on getting the game soon so I'm hoping that Max will run on my system.

Also I just checked Creative's site and it seems the only driver update for the SB Live is Revision 1 (May 5, 2000). And since my motherboard is brand new there are no updates for is as well. So how can I update my drivers if there are no updates?
