Max Payne starts up, and I can go through all the menus and everything. But, when I go to play, it gives me this:

http://ownage.clanpages.com/screens/Max_Payne_Error.jpg

It gets about 60% loaded, and it does that.

Some of my system specs...

Windows XP Home Edition
300 Watt Powerman PS
Abit KT7A (BIOS Version: 4A)
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1GHz 266FSB
ThermoEngine HS/F
256 Mb PC-133 (CAS-2)
WDC 40Gb ATA/100 7,200rpm HDD (Primary Master)
Matshita CD-RW CW-7585 (Secondary Slave)
Standard 1.44 Floppy
SBLive! Value
Inno3D GeForce2 MX400

If any of that helps in the solving of the problem...

HAve you tried to reinstall Max payne? Before you reinstall it delette all the content of the Temp folder in windows then reinstall Max payne if this doesn't correct the issue, turn the Agp mode to 2x and disable Fastwrite, in windows Xp most of the erros in Ma xpayne are given by the agp mode set to 4x and Fastwrites.

Thanks for your help. Max Payne works now. I basically did everything you told me to do.

I uninstalled Max Payne. I deleted everything in the temp folder. I changed my AGP speed to 2X while restarting. I reinstalled Max Payne. And, now it works.

My guess...it was probably just the AGP speed the whole time.

How come I can't go at 4X? Do I just need a new video card? Or is it my motherboard? Or Windows XP? Heh...maybe I'm asking too much.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Apparently, it was just the temp folder that was causing the problem, cause now I enabled 4X AGP, and it works.

weird...
