Picture freezes, sound repeats

My Max Payne crashes maybe after 2-3 minutes of playing (this on high-res, i still get good fps). Picture freezes, sound starts repeating a small clip like old LP's crashing. I tried looking on the support FAQ's and shite but I didnt find a cure for this problem.

My specs are TB 1.33, 256mb, Ati Radeon 32mb DDR. All newest drivers, tried almost all settings.

Oh yeah, I can make the game crash after like 20min play, if I put on crappiest settings.

I have this problem before. But I solved it when I downgraded my sound card driver.

You can try to disable the sound of the game and see if the game runs fine.

My system is
Duron Morgon 1000 + Geforce 2 Ti + YMF744 sound card + Win98se + Directx 8.1
