Help - Max Payne won't work with my Windows XP

Max Paybe wont work with my windows XP and i have tried everything from downloading drivers and downgrading my screen resolution, it lets me see the intro then displays a message along the line os....a direct x 8 compatible 3d card is required but my card is supported and works on other games such as castle wolfenstein, help somebody pleeeaaaassseee!!!??

what driver did u download? what kind of comp do u have? what specs do have? i went into readme file and went 2 trouble shooting then 2 graphics cards then i went 2 nvidia and downloaded the newest drive and now it works for xp.
