I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I think many of you would appreciate  the news.

Anyone remember when George didn't want to release the original trilogy on DVD?

I wish they'd all get released at once, for a 24-hour theater event. That'd be one hell of a party.

I went to an event where they showed Star Trek 1-8 in a theater. It really was a beating, and not that much fun. The mental wear down can't be avoided.
Edit: Plus, I can't imagine what the strain on the eyes/brain would be to sit through all six SW movies in 3D. Personally, I've only watched SW 1-3 a handful of times combined. Watching them back to back...no. I couldn't go for that just to get to 4-6. And really, I'd rather watch my VHS copies of 4-6 at home.

Enough milking of the SW franchise already. The new trilogy was bad enough, lets just pretend they never happened.

Fullscreen was the "new" shit for home tv. Pretty much half of the picture was gone. Good luck watching it that way.

He has said that the "Avatar" experience convinced him that "Star Wars" is ready for the state-of-the-art 3D treatment.
Sad thing is, I bet that any other new or "new" tech that comes out related to how we experience movies, he's going to be jumping on that bandwagon too.
Ad - "All new smellavision! Smell what the characters smell as you watch the film!"
George - "Alright! Now we can really give our audience that trapped in a garbage compactor experience!"
lol ugh :)
I wish he'd just release the original non-SE versions on Bluray/dvd but we know that's not happening.

Except the obvious bandwagons like releasing movies on dvd(in 2004, really?) or blu-ray.
Hell, the 2004 dvd versions weren't even properly remastered with lightsaber color all over the place in Ep.4.

They did. In glorious letterbox...

It's still better than the rubber-head CGI stuff that came after...

That's not just Lucas, that's everyone. The plan is to convert EVERY film to 3D. That way as soon as we've upgraded our entire DVD collection to Bluray, we have to upgrade again to Bluray 3D. And then yeah, BluStinkRay, and then BluStinkHoloRay.

Some films and TV shows weren't filmed in a high enough resolution to be converted to Blu-ray. For example, I read that regular 16mm film has a maximum resolution of 480p or so and is very grainy.

Won't stop them from trying. Give it time, there will be some algorithm (if there isn't already) to extrapolate the missing data from low detail images to approximate HD resolution from low detail images.

Wow... I've seem some lame "image enhancement" scenes in detective stories before, but the final closeup was blatantly not even taken from the same angle as the others.

This is cool and all but I have an idea for Georege Lucas. FILM THE OTHER THREE BOOKS AND FINISH THE DAMM STORY ARC!!!!! It's not like no one will go see them.

According to the man himself, he has no plans on making the sequel trilogy and "there is no story to tell". Star wars is only about the stories of Anakin skywalker and Luke skywalker.
Maybe it's for the better, the prequel Trilogy was terrible anyways. Ruined many things such as talking about midichlorians and what not.
Any Star wars fans just ignores the prequel anyway.

Sorry to remind you but whatever 3 books you're referring to "completing the story" wouldn't have anything to do with what Lucas would write if he ever did decide to release another pile of putrid shit on us.
The only highlight of future star wars films would be the inevitable Red Letter Media review.

Actually I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I enjoy the prequels. I'll admit that Jar Jar's antics in Episode 1 and the half-baked romance in Episode 2 are kind of a chore to watch, but I enjoy each movie on its own merits. There's plenty of wooden, cheeseball acting in the original 3 films too, but most of us view them with so many layers of delusion and nostalgia that we tend not to notice.
To each his own. :)

I'm convinced that Jar Jar was just meant to distract us from Jake Lloyd's acting.

I would have thought the everything would have also been considered awful. The only good thing I can think of in the entire prequel trilogy is Duel of the Fates which is admittedly a pretty cool song.
I hate sand.

It wasn't the acting or plot holes/sequel Inconsistency , it was the fact that Lucas tried to ruin everything that made the originals so great. It was the mystery of the originals that everybody loved. The force is nothing more than a by-product of a blood disease, Darth vader was just named that way and he was a whiney teenager that went all emo. It was like a big smack in the face to Star wars lovers everywhere. Then comes the painfully unfunny slap-stick comedy in the prequels, it's like Lucas couldn't decide to make a science fiction movie or a comedy and in the end he just mashed them together to see what happens.
This site names a lot of reasons to dislike the prequels.

Some are reasonable while others are pretty stupid. But he gets his point across pretty vividly.
