Ok...
Max Payne constantly crashes when loading a new game/save game. When it gets to 1/4 through the loading screen, it crashes me back to my desktop.

I have the game cracked, so I don't use my cd. Yet, I uninstalled, and tried to play from the cd, but not even that works. It does the same thing every time. When I try to read directly off the cd, it won't even let me load the game at all.

At first I thought it was the mods I had installed, because it started after I had put those on there. But now that I don't have those anymore, I can't think of what the problem would be.

I am running Windows XP, and I'm thinking it may have something to do with Microsoft being a horrid b*tch goddess...sorry, i'm just really cheesed off.

I have the game in Win98/ME compatibility mode, like I should, and nothing is helping. images/icons/frown.gif

I've reinstalled a billion times, too.

I'll be honest, I can't go a day without playing the game....It would be great to have some suggestions.

That's you problem right there my friend. Some (if not all cracks) have viruses. But don't jump to any conslusions on me images/icons/smile.gif

Anyway, you've uninstalled the game and reinstalled it - right? Have you cleaned out Max Payne in the windows registry after you uninstalled it? That seemed to help me. And downloading a patch helped me also.

Not much help, eh? images/icons/smile.gif

*sigh* All has been done. All has been naught.

Except the patch, which I'm getting now....but as far as ridding my system of the game, it's been done.
The crack has worked successfully from the time I bought the game, so I seriously doubt that is the problem.

Don't worry, I'll figure it out.
Thanks for the help. I'm glad you're not just making fun of me. images/icons/grin.gif

The patch helped for me. Even if it didn't get rid of the problem, it occurs less often now.
