Hi. We're close to releasing a new 1.04 patch for Max Payne. The issue of getting the "Out of memory: Vertex buffer creation" error should be fixed now.

We're looking for a few volunteers (who have gotten the error and know how to reproduce it) to test the patch before releasing it.

If you want to give it a shot, please send email to: mpbugs@remedy.fi and we'll provide you to a download link.

The patch will be about 6.5MB in size. The 1.03 version was not released in case someone was wondering about the version numbering.

SamiV.

Hey,
I've sent you an email about beta testing the patch. I have been plagued by this error from the time I purchased the game, and can easily reproduce it by increasing the detail level of the game. I have a Radeon video card and windows 98.

Hows about an Audigy fix to please.

Max Payne, when he fires his gun, is ok, but a cute scene is 5 times louder and I need to turn down the volume while it is on. Same with pick ups, the sound of the pick up is 5 times as loud.

What gives?

Sys specs:

Asus A7V266e/KT266a
1.4 Tbird 266 FSB
512 DDR pc/2100 mem
3D Prophet 3 Ti500
Creative Audigy
Altec sound system, 4 sats + 1 subby
17" monitor
52X cd
Logitech Optical mouse
Win 98 se
DX 8.0a
21.81 Hercules driver.

Its not my card as every other game is fine.

I also experienced the outta memory error while using 32-bit settings (but not with 16-bit)
- that is, with my old setup:
Asus V6800 GeForce 256 32M DDR + nVidia 21.83s....

The error has now vanished with my new setup (see sig.) images/icons/smile.gif
However, now I experience mouse input-type delays,
and on one occasion, a total system crash.

Go figure...

We still have issues with the current (beta) 1.04 patch. There will be a newer (beta) version in a few days. If there's no more problems it should be going out soon. Thanks for your patience and sorry to keep everyone waiting.

Yours, SamiV.
