Hey guys my processor went out and had to install a new one. Well I had a AMD ATHLON 800mhz and I up graded to a 1.6GHZ Athlon and a ASUS motherboard and now my game keeps crashing. It just locks up. I am on the last part where I have shoot the cables. My system is 1.6ghz Athlon xp,256 mb pc133 ram, sound blaster live X gamer(older one), Voodoo 3 3000, windows 98. Any help would be appriciated. images/icons/blush.gif images/icons/mad.gif
If it's a VIA chipset, I would recommend shooting over here (http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2) and download VIA's most recent 4-in-1 drivers (version 4.37 at this posting).

How can I tell if it is a VIA Chipset.
go to h-oda's (http://www.h-oda.com) site and download WINCPUID. It'll identify your chipset for you.

He's not using a P4, he's using an XP proc. Ovalguy, if you go to the Asus website it'll tell you what chipset the board uses. Or you can post the model number here. Have you installed any motherboard drivers? Like AGP drivers? As Bean said, if you're using a VIA chipset, you definitely need AGP drivers for the mainboard.
OT, tying a 1.6G XP proc to SDRAM means you won't realize the potential of the cpu. At some point you're gonna want to get DDR memory coupled with that processor.

u said u have an xp 1600 w/ 256mb pc 133 sdram..
well the xp processors run on a 266mhz fsb using ddr sdram.. so u either a) lowerd the fsb to 133 or b) don't know whats inside your case..
i would suggest u get the via pci latency patch
and slso get the latest 4in1's (i think its 4.37)
good luck
u said u have an xp 1600 w/ 256mb pc 133 sdram..
well the xp processors run on a 266mhz fsb using ddr sdram.. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">There are mobo's that support 133Mhz sdram for Xp cpu's, the fsb for the cpu and ram is most of the time separatly available, + the freq. for the cpu is doubled for wathever reason, so 133Mhz*2 = 266Mhz fsb for the cpu.
Mine is an older T-bird with a 100 Mhz fsb doubled to 200, with my memory running at 133 Mhz.
Get your facts straight before you start writing nonsense.
