I have problems with light

helle i'am a french man thats why my english is bad!!
i want to ask you about a problem
i have indows XP and when i play to max payne the light is very bad
i can see only the personage!!!
when i enter in option and i increase the light in the menu nothing is happend( the game is shadow) nad in my ecran the light and contrast is thoroughly

so what i can do to resolve this problem?????

i had the same problem and i resolved it by:
when u run maxpayne and the initial options/settings screen appears, click the options button and set fogging to disabled.
it should be fine after that.
