Today I'm working on updating the Max Payne walkthrough over at http://www.maxpayne.com/walkthrough with some more stuff that wasn't in the original walkthrough (more secrets, extra rooms, things like that).
Anyway, in doing it, I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. In Roscoe Street Station, after you rescue the transit cop, if you don't immediately head towards the control room, he starts saying silly things like "I'm too afraid to go to the control room without you and your gun". He'll also complain that you're not going to the control room fast enough, go "Hey, where are you going?". I had never noticed this speech of the transit cop before. I've always just ran to the control room.
So after a few minutes of that, I shot him - which of course you shouldn't do, but it felt good. And I got a good screenshot out of it. images/icons/smile.gif

I knew he complained about not going to the control room, but all I ever heard him say was "the control room's this way".
Wow Joe you ahve your brightness v high. Looks weird, I have mine low cuz otherwise it spoils Max's Speech

Actually, the shots don't pay any attention to your brightness setting. I have it that way, because I was trying to match the brightness used in the screenshots in the walkthrough.
I had to post process the brightness once I quit the game. I was hoping the screenshots command would respect the brightness setting. it didn't. images/icons/frown.gif

I find it odd that everyone who helps Max dies. The scientist and Mickey both get killed in the end. images/icons/frown.gif

Just because his model is called C1_all mickey doesn't imply his name is Mickey. You might as well say some other thugs are named tutorial_guy.

Tutorial_Guy is probably someone that they didnt give a name for, so they just used him for references or whatever.

He'll also complain that you're not going to the control room fast enough, go "Hey, where are you going?".<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Actually it's not about speed, it's about not going straight to the control room. If you head someplace else (for example, the locker room), the transit cop says the above line.

I don't know if anyone else has seen this. When you kick open the door to the locker room with the thug and the transit cop, instead of shooting the thug, try running away, instead. Make sure you hide somewhere where the thug can't see you.
After about 30 seconds, the point of view will switch back to the locker room, where the transit cop is groveling on the floor for a bit before the thug shoots him. You'll have to re-load your last saved game at this point.

I was hoping the screenshots command would respect the brightness setting. it didn't. images/icons/frown.gif <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">As far as I know, the game's "Brightness" is actually "Gamma correction". What this means is that the graphics card applies the "Gamma correction" after the image has been rendered into the framebuffer memory. The image in the framebuffer doesn't know anything about the Gamma.
The "Gamma correction" is then applied to the image at the digital->analog conversion phase in the graphic card's Ramdac.
So basically when our game asks the graphics card for the image, we get the raw rendered data and have no idea what your gamma setting is. Theoretically what you could do is try to estimate some automated image enhancement to the raw image based on your gamma setting, but that would never be the same as what you have on your monitor.

All that came to my mind from the topic Transit Cop was that old Beastie Boys song..
"Brad's off twisting a win/
And I can't afford to pay the feds/
And now I'm never late on Friday night/
By a transit cop looking to fight, he said/
Yo yo, from the CIA, and I'm/
Yo yo, what an artist said, they're going."
Now that I think about it, the lyrics for that song don't seem to make any sense at all.
