PlayStation 2 control issues

When I play MP for the PS2, at certain times, Max will start randomly strafing to the right. My console is brand new, and I've not noticed this behavior on any other games(which leads me to think its not the controller). Has anyone else noticed this issue, or is this something I need to contact Sony about?

I too have noticed this. Although I have only played the demo for ps2 This has nevertheless occured. I don't know what it is. I think if you are holding a joystick to any direction while the level is loading it might take that position as the default position???? I don't know really what might cause it
