Hey there... got a wierd problem with Max. Everytime I go in and out of bullet time (especially out), the sound *pops* like an old record. The more I shoot, the worse it is.
My sound card is a SB Live!. Every possible driver is up to date. The game is patched. What could cause the sound to screw up when I cut bullet time off?

The only time I've experienced that problem is with a few user modifications -- usually where new sound effects have been added, but set up incorrectly.
Unfortunately, if we're just talking about regular Max Payne, then I don't know what the problem is.
Is it a recent occurrence, or has the sound always messed up? You might find that restarting the level you're on (from the beginning, not a quicksave) sometimes fixes the problem.

Always messed up. The more enemies in bullet time (or the more I shoot) the louder or more frequent the pops.

YES!!! I know this! I have a SBLive 5.1 too and with the latest drivers I hear the pops too, very annoying indeed. I couldn't think of a better solution then just downgrading my drivers, so I use my old sounddrivers now. If anyone knows another better solution, please post!!!

Hmm.. Just read that the combination of VIA and SBLive is known to give trouble:

I downloaded the latest VIA drivers and SBLive drivers and I still had the pop-sounds. Solution, anyone?
