I made a walking animation with milkshape but it is not looping when I call it in CHARANIM_WALK. I mean, the animation reach its last frame and then stops.

When I import the original walk.kf2 and then I export it again, animation does not work anymore.
So, what’s wrong with my exporting process ?

Sometime it also happens that non-looping animations freeze at their last frame.

Is it a Milkshape problem or I mistake some setting ?

Thanks

Unfortunately, Remedy did not use a $20 sharewhere program to create the character animations in Max Payne. The kf2 exporters for 3ds max contain many more options, including a 'looping' check box. There are also options for exporting weapon, projectile, and camerapath animations.

Sadly though, Remedy didn't provide kf2 importers; which means that you can only edit existing animations in Milkshape. Basically, if you want a custom running animation, you're going to have to create it from scratch using 3ds. graemlins/doh.gif

Nope it's not.

You've got a 30 day trial period, then the piece of crap dies on you. images/icons/mad.gif graemlins/tinyted.gif images/icons/mad.gif graemlins/tinyted.gif

What you're talking about is freeware - there's a difference.

Evan Preston AKA memorexorcist on MPHQ says he has figured out a way to loop animations in milkshape. I also have done it once on accident but cannot recreate what i did. Evan's explaination to me was vague but had something to do with pressing the fastforward to the last frame button in milkshape before exporting it. But i have yet to recreate it even with this in mind. The walking animation that i accidentally looped was about 150 frames and had no bone movements. (it was for a hovering droid)

Well, whatever little piece of code that sets an animation to loop, surely that can be found with... maybe a HEX editor, and then "switched on" to make it loop. The question is, where at in the kf2's code is the part that tells it to loop or not?

I'm having problems because milkshape isnt set up to make maxpayne animations loop. So it walks to the end position and freezes, and it looks pretty lame. plus I'm using the maxpayne collision for it so im not sure if projectiles will hit it everywhere.

Rats...all the animations for it are finished now. I hope one of you guys can figure out this looping thing, because I'll be damned if I can be bothered to animate it again. graemlins/tinyted.gif
