LOL, actually, you're both wrong. The bandwidth on my server (from where these pics are linked) has reached it's limit this month. Bixen was kind enough to up my limit by a bit, so now I'm using smaller pics to preserve bandwidth. images/icons/wink.gif Next month I'll have more pics to show, with much more to look at, and they'll be a bit bigger. images/icons/wink.gif

ok.. first of all, ever heard of MPHQ, they actually host pretty much everything that is MP related. No bandwith limitations.. (last time I've checked..) and all the space you need. *hint hint* mail the hosting guy at MPHQ or just contact me at IRC if your interested..
enough about that, I just wanted to know if the car was made in maxed? and that line about me exspecting more from you, was just a joke. I take your word when you say it's in a early stage. images/icons/tongue.gif

I don't have any bandwidth limitations either, Strat is just being too much of a nice guy images/icons/smile.gif It's perfectly okay to have shots big (100k or so), the problem was mainly that he had so many pics on his frontpage that got loaded without it being needed (as in people checking news, then recieving many MBs of pictures they already saw if the cache doesn't catch it).
I liked the look of those shots a lot, bigger I say images/icons/smile.gif That train thingy looks awesome, and how did you get that car in there, just imported one? Have had some thoughts on that matter myself... I love the "artsy" shots too, looking good as always Strat. I just LOVE you doing current-time stuff, cause that's my favourite theme, and you know your shit images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks Bix. And BTW, I fixed that prob with the too many pics. Only a few smaller ones on the main page now. Also upped that Payne Reactor logo closer to the top.
Yup, the car is a model. It's currently set up as an enemy (had to go in and assign bones correctly) right now so it actually drives around. And before anyone else gives me kudos on the car, as I stated above, I did not make it. A gentleman called Finite allowed me to use it, so all kudos for said car go to him. images/icons/wink.gif

The viper rocks, Straton. Some time ago I started to make a Lamborghini in MaxEd (always wanted to possess one images/icons/grin.gif ), but haven't continued working on it 'cause of Lightsaber. Now as I saw the Viper I've got an itch to scratch -- and to start from scratch again. If you'd like me to make a Lamborghini for you, I'll do it. Do you want?

I got fed up with the leather jacket in the end (all the playtesting). The skin is just something I'm using until I can find something more appropriate. I doubt it will make it to the final release.

guess he propably groups it to a DO doing the animation instead of C_Goto
(propably a completely transparent DO where the "enemy" is standing on)
just guessing, would like to know that myself, dont see any other solution for that to work out properly though...

Yup, the car is a model. It's currently set up as an enemy <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">So when you want the car to be moving to a certain point you use the "C_GoTo" messages, right? How does it work out when the car makes a turn? Does it look realistic?

gr8 level you made. you make pretty good lighting as well. so is that possible to be able to drive in your mod- not just watching max drive in cutscenes but actually use the car in levels i mean?

whats up with the zero forums i tried to access it but had errors and such have you closed down for good? <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I wrote an update for the site two days ago, but unfortunately I got an error when I tried to add it (two hours worth of writing down the tube graemlins/doh.gif ).
The site is effectively dead at the moment. However, what still remains are the tutorials and the mods - which have yet to be affected. I can't really do anything because both sites belong to Zer0, and I haven't spoken with him for several months now.
In the mean time, I have a sort of temporary hosting deal with nukee - no webpage per se, but I can upload stuff. His site is pretty new, and needs some visitors so forgive the blatant pimpage: http://rustywidget.com/
If I do upload any more media it'll probably post it here in the forums.

so what will we expect in your levels strat? like any objectives or missions we be doing?
will enemies have their own cars as well as when you run up to a point and then they be crusing down past you and they stop and get out and come after you?
my fave level in mp1 was the garage level where max has to run straight down the ramps and kill everyone and there was this van in the level that does this drive by shooting thing that i like. i was wondering can you add that particular van to your level and make it so it can try and run you down and you have to shoot at the driver's side so he can crash?
apart from the katana, what other weapons will be in the level? same guns from mp1?
p.s. hows blade runner evolution going?

WHat I can tell you is that there's about nine or ten new melee weapons, and the enemies will (eventually) be using them too. However, I've decided to make the katana the main weapon - the rest are sort of extras.
Expect some media on the actual mod to appear quite soon; as well as some infomation about the release date.

neeek, my level is pretty much going to be the opener for Katana. As to whether Maddie or anyone else does any follow up levels, I haven't a clue, although I truely hope people (the few mappers in this community) will take a clue from what I'm doing for Katana and did for Lightsaber and lend at least one map to a few of their favorite TC's. If a few of the mappers could each do that, a lot of the TC's might actually get completed. images/icons/wink.gif
My level is going to be the "set-up" for the story, the lead-in, and will do a proper job of introducing our main hero. Here's a text version of the voice-over at the start of the level....
"Who am I? ..........That's not really important. A better question would be WHAT am I? An even better question, and one I ask myself often, is how did I get to be here?
I was raised as nobility. Trained as a soldier. And became a killer. I am an assassin. I am an assassin hunted by others of my kind for abandoning my order. Sickened by what I had become, I left my order cursing everything it stood for. My mentors and brothers were not pleased. Now, it seems, I am their betrayer, their Judas. And no matter how hard I try, I cannot escape my past.
But, I am ready for it. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
And I remember, always, the first rule: the weapon is the extension of the flesh, the flesh of the mind, the mind of the soul. For the true warrior to survive in combat, and emerge triumphant, those elements must function in harmony."
My level finds our hero trying to make his way out of New York by subway and finding his old associates not willing to let him get away so easily. Mainly it will consist of many fights throughout the subway with various assassins from his former order. The main obstacle to overcome (besides staying alive through the many encounters) will be the reactivation of the subway, as it goes into an emergency shut-down from all the chaos that the order has brought along with it. For instance, they go for wholesale slaughter once they get inside and the crap hits the fan, with the idea that there are to be no witnesses and that no one gets out alive. So, right away they start killing all the civilians that happen to be in the subway at this "wrong time". And the explosives they bring along certainly dosen't help matters any. images/icons/wink.gif
And of course, I've gotta have a boss fight. Even though I figure this will be the first level of the mod, I figure I've gotta set it off right with something big. A full-on head-to-head with the hero's old nemesis, a ninja assassin who has now filled the "top dog" vacancy that said hero has left in his former order. I'm hoping I can pull off an even better boss fight here than I did with my boss fight for my Lightsaber level. Plus, this level is going to be MUCH larger than the level I did for Lightsaber.
As far as Evolution goes, it's pretty much been at a stand still for a while now. BUT, once this level is finished, I plan to get right back at it and hopefully have a second demo out in the near future that will contain several new levels. images/icons/wink.gif
