Does the Game " The Thing " use the Max Fx Engine? my friend has the game and it looks exacly like Max Payne does images/icons/confused.gif .

No, it does not.

The way a game "looks" depends much more on the art than the actual engine. Except for engine-bound things like lighting.

And having to use your thumb to dive or shoot, and little things like arm-wrestling, and ridiculous weapon names, and a cooler star, and a stripper girlfriend, and the grabs of "Oni", and the peeking from all the "Metal Gear Solid" games........
