Hi, I'm aspiring to be a game developer and I love reading the postmortems done by the developers to tell the story of the game's production.
I'm just wondering if there was ever a postmortem written and posted for Max Payne. I remember reading an interview on machinima.com that the Max Payne team planned to write one but I haven't been able to find anything on either gamasutra.com or gamespy.com. I was wondering if anyone knows if there was one and if there is, where can I find it?

There isn't one, and so far it seems there won't be, either.

Damn, that's awful! Well can you tell us something interesting about the game developement? lol.
I know that's wishful thinking. I'm still disapointed though, It would've made a great read.

Writing a good post mortem could take a couple of weeks, you know. So far no-one has had time to write a post mortem because everyone is busy working on the game. You should be happy to hear this, in a way, right?

Hey skaven... will there be an announcement about MP2 soon? And is there a magazine interested in covering any stuff about it?
Also, is there going to be some forum exclusive official announcements? I'd like to see how well it travels from this site to the news sites.. images/icons/smile.gif

Max Payne 2 has already been announced, it became public knowledge when the news about the IP deal (Take-Two purchasing rights to Max Payne) hit the ether. Like it says in the news, Max Payne II will come out in 2003. No specific date has been announced, beyond the usual graemlins/wid.gif
You can see when the game will come, as ads and stuff starts popping up when it's time.
Forum exclusive announcements? Hmm... well... I guess it sounds like a fun idea but I dunno if there will ever be any of those. It's up to the people above me in the food chain. images/icons/grin.gif
will be any specifics announced about Max Payne II? ... images/icons/smile.gif
can we have another gold contest? best gone gold line? images/icons/tongue.gif

Lengis... You're expecting to see Max Payne 2 hit the streets with no details what so ever?
My question really is when these details would be released.... but, I know it won't be the same.....

Well, you probably know the best answer you'll get from me is: "further details will be released when it's time".
And I don't think that re-defining, re-wording or re-iterating the question will squeeze out any further droplets of info either. All in good time. images/icons/smile.gif

In the future everyone has virtual multimedia glasses (that also work as a phone, a camera, GPS device and a microwave oven). Ride your bike past a shop, and your view sudenly gets completely blocked with pop-up offers. Blinded, you run into a lamp post after knocking over a f-- er, horizontally gifted lady who lands straight onto her pomeranian.
How's that for friendly, discreet advertising?
In other words, if everyone hates popups, why do they still use them? Has some marketing research proved that you make more money, the more you annoy people?
Pomeranian? you mean the dog? hehe
You have better english than I do Skaven... images/icons/grin.gif

The only reason that stuff like pop ups appear to work is because idiots click on them or they mislead you.(and there's the occasional person who clicks them by accident of course) Because there's so many of these people online nowadays we find more people clicking on them.
Btw, how did this post about postmortems turn into something about pop-ups? I'm so ashamed, lol.

Well, the original topic(s) were pretty much exhausted and concluded, weren't they, so don't worry. Since this thread hasn't yet gone awry either, there's no reason to close it.
this reminds me... did you guys keep any cool New York pictures that you used in making max payne?

We've kept all of them. They are helpful references, even when they don't contain useable texture surfaces.
Can you guys share them? I'd love to see some sweet reference photo's!
