Winners of the fan art competition

Well the fan art competition (link here) (http://forums.3drealms.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=004179) was huge in every possible term. Over 150 pieces of fan art were submitted by over 80 contestants.

Thank you for all the contestants! It was really nice to see what people could come up with and you sure did not disappoint. And, at least, it was a nice way to pass the time while waiting for MP2... images/icons/smile.gif

All that remains now is the task of declaring the winners. The jury at the Remedy side has picked the winner.
But first, as in the Academy awards, here are the nominees:

I think Steve's is my favourite too, because it's very posterlike. But they are all so great, so different in style, I like the simplicity of the color and the gritty look of kemical's pic, the same goes for Marty's, and I like the special style of Jade's pic, and how it looks so dark, moody and bright at the same time.

I have to put my money down on Steve.. well techinically I already have with the custom poster I got made but it's the best out of the bunch in my opinion.

I think Marty said he used brushes in Photoshop with a tablet if I'm not mistaken. Jade used watercolors I think?!

ikkah: Can't thank you enough, i wanna get TY's out before i hear about losing lol. it's been fun, i seriously dont feel any pressure cause its been so fun. when's the next one!

Co11: Here's the steps and motivation behind my entry:

-I thought up the idea with motivation from movies where the character is overlooking the city, as well as Kemical's entry with using the leaf tool to fit the theme of fall. I wanted to try and be a little different from Kemical's clean leaf look with the blood so i just went crazy with different sizes of black, red and white leaf brushes till they faded enough between max's dark background and the white city lights appearance.

step 1: used the gradient tool to make the top black and bottom white fading in between

step2: drew on Max's body and the city below him

step 3: put leaves over top each other in the 3 different colors

step 4: finished with the titles below and signature, and cleaned up the border with the rectangular marquee tool & DONE

We also randomly selected one other winner for the non-signed poster out of all people who submitted fan art to the competition. Sam Lake acted as our Lady Luck (snicker) while Matias (our chief honcho) witnessed the occasion.

WoW, this is an honor Remedy! Thanks again for the competition, it was a blast. Good show Marty, Chemical and Jade... for a friendly and inspiring art display. I still am going through submissions to just see what people made, and it was a great way to pass the time to see all the art every day.

I spent quite some time on my entry... only to find i was up against experienced graphic designers and artists... some of whom have won many arts competitions.

I am not bitter or anything, i think their work was marvelous. And credit has to be given... The 4 winners were indeed deserved of the prize. Its just that i know a lot of people who may not have been so talented or experienced tried their best and put a lot of whole-hearted effort in. Only for them to have little to no chance in winnning.

Then again, it is a competition, and therefore there have to be winnners and losers. images/icons/rolleyes.gif
