Yep, I'm back, I just wanted to tell the fans who are as eagerly awaiting Max Payne 2 as I am that I've updated the FAQ with some minor tidbits.

I'm sorry, there's not much new in there, most of the work I did was to fix some gramatical errors but if you hadn't yet read it here's the link.

That's pretty nice. Refreshing to read a non-official FAQ with no bullshit images/icons/smile.gif

It's only non official because remedy hasn't said anything to me about it, I would like to make it official, I put a lot of hard work into it.

It's good, but I have a few criticisms to make. images/icons/tongue.gif

Remedy won’t make it their official FAQ, or perhaps even confirm anything listed on it, because it's based around your interpretation of comments and hints made by them.

Also, I wouldn’t want to see frequent Remedy posters discouraged in fear of their every word being held against them when the game comes out with or without confirmed feature. What 3D Realms has here is very rare, and it's a privilege we shouldn't abuse.

No offence; your FAQ is well written, concise and to the point. But is confirmation that they've fixed 'that sniper rifle glitch' really as relevant as the game's plot and release date?

Ok, maybe I'm being a bit harsh. images/icons/smile.gif

The point is, at the moment there really isn't all that much to go on. Maybe a FAQ would be more appropriate nearer the time of release. On the other hand, perhaps you could write about the possible features; or requests from fans; the implications on the modding community, etc.

Well that's all I have to comment on at the moment; please don't take it the wrong way. images/icons/smile.gif

Hey man, you make a good point but I'm just trying to relay what was told. You know, I'm doing it for the fans that don't have as much free time as I do and at the same time trying to breathe some new information into my site.

Yes I know the sniper rifle glitch is something but please I'm just one guy working with what I've got, there has been no mention of story, hell of anything since May. This also works in a lot of ways, with the faq people will ask less of the same questions and I'll stop getting harrassed by guys who can't speak english asking for game tips.

By the way, there is a release date, it's "When it's done." Didn't you read the faq? lol

The whole thing about Max really being a masked Nicole Horne and so on... well, maybe in 2003...

A tip, a cold beer and a Sauna and Remedy ppl (or rather every Finnegan) will even tell you if they wear ladies underwear. images/icons/wink.gif

A lot of the stuff is indeed subject to change at this point, so you should not go into the more specific areas or details. Including the animation problem question, BTW.

As a side note, it may be a good idea to use different styles for the questions and the answers, for example, Bold for questions and normal for the answers, or such.

Who hoo I got a developer reply! That made my night.

Anyways I'm not going to go overboard with information, I'm probably not going to do many more updates anytime soon, (you're not talking anymore Skaven) and I thought there were plenty of disclaimers before the faq saying "this may or may not be in the final version of the game" ya da. Well if it isn't I'll put it in right now.

Strange, I sure have to write a lot of disclaimers for everything I write, either I'm very opinionated or I just like to write dangerously. You should check out some of my old work on planetanachronox (that was some pretty hot stuff, this is not a shameless self promotion)

Remedy, I have all the faith that you will make an excellent game, but c'mon digging up info like that is just fun. I understand that you want to do a media blackout but sometimes there's things people gotta know up front (like what platforms)

Don't worry, I've got midterms this week, there's not going to be regular updates of it. The smell from going through your dumpsters is killing my social life, just kidding.

PS: Just one more question, my best friend wants to know how you feel about linux on MP2. Directly or indirectly. He begged me to ask, sorry for the inconvenience.

It is already possible to play Max Payne under Linux Windows Emulator with Transgaming (http://www.transgaming.com)'s DirectX platform. This means that the sequel will most likely also work. How do we feel about it? Well, what can I say. I guess it's cool that it works that way. images/icons/smile.gif

Thank you, you've made my best friend very happy now. You might just have sold yourself one more unit when the game comes out.
