Under data/database/sounds/ I made a new folder with the name of "club" and I figured that maybe I needed to have a txt file to go with that. So after writing down the files on the text document I open MaxEd. But it wouldn't open because it said that there was an internal error or something. So I figured that maybe it was because of the new sound category I had done. And that was my problem. Anyway, my question is how do u make a new sound category?

When you do the .txt file, make sure you use one of the existent .txt files as a template. Just copy that file, rename it and then CAREFULLY modify the sound blocks so that they play the sound you want the way you want it.

If that doesn't help, take a screenshot of the error message you get when trying to open MaxED (press print screen and then paste it from any graphic design program; MS Paint will do).

Ok, but if I use one of the exising files. Do I keep the rest of the sounds that were already there or what? And by the way, if I name my folder "club" the text document has too be "club" as well. right?

You can delete them if you want, but the risk of you deleting something other than the blocks and screwing it up it's still there so why bothering. Look for the file that more closely resembles the kind of sound file you are creating (in terms of type of sounds, size of the file, etc).

And yes, the .txt file has to have the exact same name as the new folder.

When modifying the blocks the most important thing is to change the sound file's path, the block's name (which is the one you'll have to refer to from the editor), and any other properties you want to tinker with.

I tried everything and can't get it to work!

Here's what I'm trying to do:

Just add new sound for a new level I did. So under data/database/sounds I made a new folder and named it Club and copied the raganarock txt and named it club. So I had everything I needed. But when I opened MaxED I got a message that said that the an abnormal operation took place or something, and it shows the path to MaxED in My computer So Max ED didn't open.

Can someone tell me what the hell am I doing wrong!

hmm...that definitively means you have got something wrong with your data folder. Why don't you just try adding the sound you want on a block to one of the existent txt files with its respective sound folder. In theory, you just copy an existent block, change it's name, the sound file's path and whatever properties you want to edit.

Thanks for the tip, but after posting my question I went back and fixed it.

The problem was that the block I copied had an open bracket. (stupid brackets!)
But now everything is working just fine!
Thanks anyway
