Following the bloody trail I either come back to the corridor or fall in emptyness. I tried jumping from trail to trail although it's risky. Please help me out. images/icons/confused.gif

You follow the blood trail to another corridor. Maybe you thought you circled around but you actually made it. Just follow the sound of the baby and wife crying.

images/icons/mad.gif ARGH! Anyone else who absolutely HATES this labyrith bit? Are there more similar ones coming? Can they be skipped?
I though we got rid of that type of games when Speccy went obsolete...

When I made it through that, I found I had to jump. If there was a way around it without jumping, I never found it.

You're not alone Aikman. I hated the dream bits(and pretty much all jumping puzzles). I kept falling off. My first time through the game each one forced me to stop playing for a couple of days. To me, they were just plain frustrating. If I didn't completely enjoy the rest of the game, I probably would have just taken the cd out of the drive for good. Luckily they aren't too long.

Yes, the dream/overdose sequences are horrible! Max Payne is the best shooter since Half-Life, but those sequences were nothing but annoying. I'm amazed that a game which can be so good can also be so bad. Not nearly as lame but still bad was the scene where Max is in the burning restaurant. There is no way someone could run through a burning building and survive. If these sequences were just left out, the game would be much better. images/icons/mad.gif

I actually think the Chapter 2 prologue is really good! The atmosphere is frickin sick and scary. And the wanderering around where the hell you have to go now makes it somewhat annoing.
But it made me only more compelled to continue the game and get that wrevenge. It's just a good brak from the shooting and stuff.
(by the way, I found the prologue of Part3 VERY impressive!)

The thing is I'm one of the main opponents of jumping puzzles and I found it easy... They are quite simple really and aren't overly bad.
They also have 1 jumping sequence in them which is somewhat straightforward with some patience.

I'm with Nate on this one. Stop whining about a 3 minute jump puzzel you wussies.

Cat: Don't diss joe. He works for 3DRealms images/icons/smile.gif .
BTW: Basically on the jumping puzzle you always go right (usually). There will be 2 zig-zag lines I think. I remember someone drawing a map for it but I don't remember the URL images/icons/frown.gif
Anyways, have lots of fun playing Max Payne! images/icons/smile.gif

Good to hear I'm not the only one that doesn't like the dream sequences. Maybe Remedy will consider doing something about it.
Teebow: frustrating, and utterly boring. Made me watn to quit, too.
Nate: Yes, they are easy (at least the labyrith was). That's why they're so boring.
They might be important for the narrative, but then they just ought to be stories, not playable bits. Or maybe they could be skipped.

I never said I got stuck on them. I got through them reasonably quickly too. I just thought they were dumb, unnecessary, and dragged you away from the action.

And another thing. Why is she apologizing to Max in the dream sequence?

the dream sequences really added to the story, i reckon - especially the second one (tho' the second blood trail was a bit vexing, but with autosave you can't really complain) - the way you get to the end, find the dude who's just killed your wife... and it's you! man, you don't get many things that freaky in games nowadays - be grateful!
(BTW I know it wasn't really Max who killed his wife, just the old 'it's all my fault' line, but i reckon that would have made a great, but sick twist to the story!)

The dreams were both easy. The second one a little harder cause you had to jump. i just randomly guessed where to go and i ended up going the right way images/icons/smile.gif and the burning restaurant was so cool. I thought i was going to be shooting a lot of badies but after the first explosion i was like oh $hit, and i started runnin. It was hella fun!

Anyway, I thought the exploding room was pretty cool (as was most of the game). images/icons/smile.gif

I must say I liked those parts because they just look so friggin spaced out...it's like you are on a bad trip yourself....
The puzzles were not that hard and the sound of that crying baby just freaked me out! images/icons/shocked.gif

I figure there's two ways you can take that or a bit of both perhaps....
1. He blames himself to the point of feeling responsible ie. for not being able to stop it, for not listening and so on.
2. He feels (esp in light of the inflicted OD) that he's becoming as bad as her killer/s.

You have to lay off the Valkyr, min
I liked that. Not the Valkyr. There's only 2 such sequences. 1st is 'Dream-nightmare-time'
2nd is drug induced, Oh she was a basturd.

Actually, being a Firefighter chick, I thought the opposite! I got aggravated when a little bit of fire would kill him so quickly! I thought they made him a pu**y! images/icons/tongue.gif

I'm not too fond of the dream err "Nightmare" sequences or whatever.. but the contents of the both of the letters on the desk in the second nightmare thingy was funny as hell. I laughed quite a bit after reading those.

I usually hate when good and relatively realistic games funk up and go "spacey" and silly (I've played through Half-Life twice -- but never all the way, because I can't stand that spacey episode at the end), but I thought it was very well made and atmospheric in MP. And when I got to the first maze, I just thought "OK, it's a stupid maze...now just keep to the right and I'll hopefully get it done", because I'd seen enough of games almost ruined by stupid mazes and jump puzzles, but it was never too hard or too annoying at all in MP.
Also, about that "wake up vs. die" thing -- I do think it's quite realistic because you're on Valkyr. Imagine that you're way drunk and out in the cold snow -- you either make a big effort staying on your legs and awake, and you'll hopefully get home to your bed, or you lose it and freeze to death in the snow... images/icons/rolleyes.gif

I didn't care for the dream sequences either and was totally pissed off when a second one popped up in the game. How many times can a guy get drugged in a game?
I just quick saved whenever I did a jump and reloaded when I fell or the trail came to a dead-end. It didn't take long to get thru them that way.

My thoughts about the part 2 prologue can be described in three simple words: God-d**n-it!
I don't know what's wrong with you people, I suddenly love the prologues!

I was complaning about the dream sequences first time I played, but the second time I went through them though, I enjoyed them a lot more (very weird I know). images/icons/smile.gif As long you don't get impatient or mad, you can find the exit very fast (all mazes can be finished in a single minute or less if you're lucky). The atmosphere which was settled up by these scenes was neat and should make you forget about the small piss-off time you'll get by running through the mazes.

I liked them both. It showed how screwy Valkyr was. And the resturant that blew up was really cool.
