Saving Max Payne

When I save the game, I can save it only two times plus one autosave. There are around 15 lines out of which only 3 are occupied while the remaining are empty. How can I save the game for more than 2 times?

The quicksave only saves in the first two slots I think. In order to use up the other ones you have to save 'properly' - i.e. hit esc to get into the menu, choose save, and select one of the other slots to save.
