ladder help in chapter 1

Actually I don't think you want to jump to the "ground". Look directly under the fire escape there should be a dumpster full of sand.

Hi. In the 5th or 6th part of the first chapter where you start off on the fire escape... what do I do? I keep falling to my death. Am I supposed to jump up? I keep hitting my head. I know I need to get to the roof, I just can't see how to climb up.T

You have to go down the fire escape and jump to the ground. I'm guessing that you can see a couple of junkies around a burning barrel down below from your start point, right? If so, then that's what you gotta do; go down the fire escape.
