Does anybody know the notes to the Max Payne theme tune?
I'm new to this forum, as you can see by my ridiculously high post count. images/icons/grin.gif

If I had a quarter for every time someone asked this... I could go to the arcade and play Judge Dredd pinball!
... But why would I do that?

I did a few things awkwardly (the rhythm's a little off and one or two notations are a bit awkward, but this ought to get you started.
I can play a part of the main theme...but I start with "A" key... images/icons/rolleyes.gif
I, for one, don't even remember how the title music for MP goes..
However, I can play the music from Megaman 1's Cutman-stage.
And the music from the levels 1-1, 1-2 and 1-4 of the first Super Mario Bros. game.
And the Bubble Bobble theme.
And the Punch Out theme.
Oh, oh! The main theme from Shadowgate too!

I can play "dammit" on the organ. Sounds hilarious!

At least there has been one available around Finland for quite a while, but I don't know if it is in your location.

there are many ringtone sites out on the web and most are ringtones that plays whatever in the charts. im sure there are sum video game music ringtones available.
sum fones even let you have this record feature where you just record a noise, your voice where you just say the persons name or say anything stupid and then you make that noise or whatever into a ringtone so anyone that calls you on your fone then it will play that particular ringtone whether the ringtone would be a fart, dog barking, cat meowing, sumone having an arguement, woman having an orgasm, etc.
i dont know what fones have that feature but if you do come upon a fone that lets you record your own ringtone then make sure you put that fone real close next to the speakers of the computer with the theme music of max payne so you can record that theme song.
hey you know what would be cool? if you had a ringtone that sounds like bullettime, where it plays that beginning bit of the sound effect and then plays the heartbeat with gunsounds made real slow and then when the bullettime is finished it plays this ending sound effect. how cool would that be?
or you could record max payne talking and have it as the ringtone so you'll know when sumone's calling you, max will spit out whatever he says in the game.
or what abou this one? the part where max finds his baby dead and his wife dead and then in the end part of the level he yells out " noooooooooooooooooo"? make that as your ringtone and make that ringtone specific to whoever's calling you as most fones have specific ringtones for different ppl like friends family and work. id make that "noooooooooooo" part as the ringtone specific for work so when work is calling you up it will play that ringtone, i mean i hate work and rather be elsewhere but that ringtone i suggested would be very appropiate for work calling you up or whatever.
there are heaps of good music from max payne that you can have as your ringtones and then set them specific to whoever's calling you. the music that shows up on the startup of the game where it shows the video of the game before it will load up the menu that would be a good to have as a ringtone.
what about having the other voices and sounds from max payne such as the tv soap opera sounds and that other one with the flamingo in it that would sound cool for a ringtone. man you could have anything as your ringtone now, sooo coool,

The self-recorded ringtones also sound like crap. It was the main attraction the Siemens C55 had over the Nokia 3510i when I was buying a new phone, but when the phone guy demonstrated it and it sounded like ass, I opted for the Nokia. Plus, the Nokia had a colour display. And it was the exact same price. And it's a Nokia.
Yeah, my phone has that feaure too...but it doesn't work good to me. I was searching for a polyphonic ring tone...
Ta-dah! (http://netti.nic.fi/~jaasan/maxp.mid)
There, one Max Payne -theme in midi, for your downloading pleasure. Well, okay, it's not the whole theme, it's just a small part of it that loops a couple of times and a couple of the notes in the end of the loop aren't correct. But it sounds nice enough for me. Now, if only I could get the damn thing to work on my phone.. guess it's time for some fine-tuning.
And oh, I have no idea what it sounds like on proper MIDI-equipment, it was done on an SB16 clone card with Fruity Loops and Cubase VST (and my trusty Yamaha synth for working out the melody). I couldn't find my MIDI-cables so I could only listen to it through the Creative Music Synth.
I was going to just edit this in the last msg, but because "the time in which you may edit your message has elapsed" I had to make a new post. (why on earth is there a time limit?)
Anyways, here's (http://netti.nic.fi/~jaasan/maxp2.mid) an updated version (updated as in "I added a bit more of the theme to it, it still won't work on a Nokia 3510i"). If anyone wants to, they can continue the work from there, I'm not sure if I'll put any more effort in it (other than fixing it so it'll work on my phone). It's far from perfect and some of the notes are still off. I did it "the hard way", so the file's a bit messy if you look inside. But feel free to finish it if you want. And if anyone wants, I'll post the notes I used.
EDIT: Forgot a sentence.

Gah, three posts by me in a row. And how could this be avoided? If there wasn't a time limit on editing the posts.
Anyways, here's (http://netti.nic.fi/~jaasan/maxp3.mid) the final version (for now atleast) that works on Nokia phones and sounds nice. Tested on a 3510i and a 6100.
If your phone supports polyphonic ringtones, just write the address for the file to your WAP-browser and download away. And oh, if you have a crap operator, they'll pro'bly charge you a cent or two for the download.
Wow...thanks a lot j images/icons/smile.gif !!!

I think I'm gonna wait for the new UMTS mobile phones where you can use 44100Hz mp3s instead of "spartan" mids.

I actually fixed the melody to still a bit closer to the real thing, but my stupid phone only has 4 note polyphony, so I had to cut out the "heartbeat drum" in the background after I'd changed the strings a bit and fine tuned the piano.
Here's (http://netti.nic.fi/~jaasan/maxey4note.mid) the (final) version that'll sound nice on a phone with 4 note polyphony.
And here's (http://netti.nic.fi/~jaasan/maxey.mid) a version for all you lucky bastards with better phones (this one has the drum!). I have no idea what this'll sound like on an actual phone though, because it's all f*cked up on mine (it cuts random notes out because of the polyphony limitations). Sounds nice enough through Quicktime wavetable emulation.
