At first glance, my car has absolutely nothing to do with Max Payne.

But on closer examination...

Yes, I realize it's incredibly geeky. I love Max Payne, though! images/icons/grin.gif

Albeit, I still hate Missouri for only allowing 6 characters on a license plate. graemlins/tinyted.gif images/icons/mad.gif graemlins/tinyted.gif images/icons/mad.gif graemlins/tinyted.gif

lol - nice one Basky images/icons/wink.gif
You could always make up for the 2 missing letters by decorating the sides of your car, or perhaps the bonnet? images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/wink.gif

(ps. would I be right in thinking that you just have to request a personalised licence plate in America and not pay some extortionate amount for it?)

You have to pay for personalized plates, but in some states it's less money. Missouri is surprisingly cheap (which is the only way I was allowed to do this).

I'm not sure how much, though. I believe I heard $50 a year somewhere, but that could be wrong.

It depends on what state you live in as to what you pay. When I was living in Pennsylvania, you had to pay $40 one time, and then it's just part of your regular yearly registration.

In Texas, they want $40 per year on top of you regular registration (which is $60). It's one of the reasons I gave up my "D FISH" license plate here after awhile. Got tired of paying $3.33 a month just to have that on my license plate.

ah, that makes it clearer (the only reference I had was from the Simpsons when marge requested a 'mitzi' licence plate images/icons/rolleyes.gif )

Over here personalised plates are a bit of a status symbol, its a one off fee to buy the plate+transfer it.
For a plate with say, your 3 initials on it you could pay a few hundred, but for a plate with a recognisable word or name on it you can expect to pay a few thousand pounds.
Plus British licence plates are very restrictive (probably why they cost so much images/icons/tongue.gif ) damn the dvla!!!

EDIT: registration? I guess thats like road tax. £105 for me, I have a car with a small engine images/icons/tongue.gif

cool plate images/icons/wink.gif

its about 40 gold in H-town a year, just like Bossman Joe stated.

i checked into it once. i wanted mine to say "Wamplet", but they only allow 6 characters images/icons/mad.gif :mad_max: :maddieman: :mad :amd: :intel: :p4:

i think they allowed 7 only if it was all numbers or 7 if it was a space in the middle. o welp, i just have to wait for more meddling kids to flood the DMV with car license requests. Only then might i have a chance at them raising the character limit graemlins/tinyted.gif

In addition, there are special rules, which really do not give much freedom in choosing what the plate says. That sucks.

... what type of car does Max drive anyway? it looks like an old Plymouth from the 50's or something.

^ I thought you where making some joke about Sam Lake owning a Green Lamborghini, since most big shoot game developers are usually known to own expensive cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and such.

Guess not, what where you talking about? images/icons/confused.gif

Jade

It wasn't a joke, there's a scene in the comic(where Max meet Vladmir) in which the car is driving Max reminded me of a Lamborghini.
But well, I'm not a cars expert images/icons/grin.gif

I think the graphic novels imply that Max steals a few cars throughout the game.

The Baskymobile is pretty cool though. images/icons/smile.gif

I can't even afford a car (damn insurance graemlins/tinyted.gif ) , let alone personalised number plates.

Nice license plates Basky but you should consider yourself lucky you can write even that.I own a souped-up Toyota Celica (the newest model) but the greek goverment doesn't accept names on licence plates, damn it images/icons/mad.gif
