Hi all,

Are there any music buffs around who love Max Payne and also know the notes for the main theme.

I play the keyboard and I believe it is played in C minor or C# minor (correct me if I am wrong).

Any genuine help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ashwin

The original theme is in C minor. I'm pretty sure if you look around you can get the notation, but if you have a good ear and piano skills, it's not hard to play by ear.

Thanks Variable for ur inputs. I tried searching the net but could not find any site having the notation.

I had a keyboard till abt a year back, it got spoilt and I havent got a new one.

If u know of any site which has the notation please do post the link.

Or if you urself know the notes for it, please type it out here or mail me at a_cowsik@hotmail.com

If I get another one, I will surely try it out.

Thanks,

Ashwin

Well, I've figured out how to play it on the piano, but as I don't have an internet connection at home right now, I'm not really able to post the notes for it.

I'll try to remember to post them as soon as I can get online at home.

I'm in band and I don't know what the notes are for the song. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I play notes in the major scale, not minor. I wish I could tell you... I could look around for that info and maybe ask someone who plays piano. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is an avatar the picture underneath your names? How can I get one? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's in C minor. Just follow the theme. C, E flat, F, G, higher C, and then go down again G, B sharp, G, E flat, and B. That should get you started on the first 3 seconds.

You have to post 10,000 or more times, then Joe emails you a custom made avatar. So get to posting! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey Simon,

Thanks a ton. Anyways I figured out the first part at a friend's place.

The first part is C, E flat, F, G, higher C, and then go down again G, B flat (correction), G, E flat, and B.

I am kinda stuck after that.

Simon... u r the guru at this. Pls give me the notes till what u know. If I progress further, I will get back to u.

Thanks,

Ashwin

Ahh... it IS B flat, you were right to correct me. English is my second language and in french, our sharps and flat are the opposite of english, so I mixed em up. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif Sorry about that.

Well, after what you know, it's A flat, G, D, G, D, E flat, B, C, E flat, F, G, and it picks up again from the high C. The rest are just variations on that theme.

Hey - Big Music Buff here,

The Notes are: (Flats are represented by small b's and Sharps as #.... - C is middle C - C' is an octave up, C, is an octave below.)

C Eb F G C' G Bb G Eb B, Ab, G, D G, D Eb, (Repeat with a B, at the beginning)

F, F, G, Ab, D B, G, Eb D F, F, G, Ab, D B, G, D, Eb, F, F, G, Ab, D B, G, Eb D F, F, G, Ab, D C B, A, B, (Then repeat everything an octave higher and then end on the C)

Any other problems just e-mail. (I do this stuff all the time. I even do ringtones for Uni Students. )

Speaking of piano notes, does anyone have the music file from Max Payne II for the
version of "Late Goodbye" that was played on a piano by one of the bad guys in the game?

In Max Payne II, as Max comes down the stairs in an apartment there is one
of the "cleaner" henchmen playing "Late Goodbye" on a piano. It sounds really great.
Whoever played it did a nice job! I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get that file,
I'd love to be able to listen to it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for any help! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

1. Rip the file "MP2_Music.ras" with Rasmaker2.
2. Locate the files in ".....data\database\music\".
3. Play the files for yourself and you'll know which one do you want.

Sayantan: I just extracted the songs from that MP2_Music.ras file, but I didn't find
the piano version of Late Goodbye anywhere in the file. Do you know where exactly
this file is located and what it's called?

Sayantan

Sorry me. Actually its not in there as a music file; instead a sound file. Here's what you have to do:

1. Rip the file "MP2_Sounds.ras" with Rasmaker2.
2. Locate the files in ".....data\database\sounds\generic\streamed\".
3. The name of the file is "ues_piano.wav".

So thats it. Till the next time. Take Care. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sayantan: Thanks, that was the correct file. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

piano_man15: What do you think of that playing of Late Goodbye on the piano, I mean
the quality of the rendition? I myself do not play, but I have a fairly high-end stereo system
and listen to quite a bit of music and to my ear this piano version of Late Goodbye sounds
very well played indeed. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif But being a piano player yourself, you would be able
to comment more about the subtleties of the performance.

I guess one of the fellows in Poets of the Fall played this piano version himself?

Thanks... Still trying to finish the entire Late Goodbye piece for the piano... But it's kind of hard since the piece is very 'full' of notes, all which are themselves very important and very hard to fit in....

I'm still working on it for sure though.

Piano Man: How goes the effort on the piano version of Late Goodbye? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Also, how well do you think the fellow who played the piano version in Max Payne
played the song (I assume it was someone from Poets of the Fall that played the piano version)?
It sounds very good to me, but as a player yourself what do you think of it, I mean
the quality of the playing itself?

How goes the effort??? I finished it... It should be right Here:
http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/sh...p;page=0#788370 (http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=788370&an=0&page=0#788370)

The guy who played it must have been a Fairly skilled Pianist, like myself. Playing is pretty good, and I've had some good comments from other Piano Players in the same thread as above.

Sorry for the incredibley late Reply, My Internet connection is completely crap, so I only got online today.
