I've got the Scarface poster behind my monitor at home, and I can't say I see the likeness. Basically black white and red is an amazingly widely used style, and they don't look alike at all. However, few people have any clue as to how much Scarface inspired Rockstar for the two last GTA games http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Perhaps hudson just talked about the styles.
Like bixen said, there are several "rules" to effective styles, and certainly Remedy has paid a lot of attention to detail in planning its' styles. You can believe that every decision about how things look has been well thought out. These "rules" are generic and certainly anyone who uses judgement and knowledge may end up with choices that resemble each other.
They do teach these things in universities and colleges, so this is open knowledge.
And I like the Scarface poster http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Did you know about this?:
1: Go to the autoshop near Cortez's place on the first island and you should see white apartment blocks.
2: Go up the stair to each one and check the doors, you shouold be able to enter one of them
3: When you do eventually find the right door and you have entered turn left into the bathroom where you can find a chainsaw and blood covered walls with hand prints, based on a scene from Scarface.
I only just found out about it, I'm going to check it out tommorow.

Bingo.
But when used effectively (like you have) It comes out well.

I only meant that Remedy were probably fans of the movie.

Not necessarily - see about styles above.
Although, I am sure that many of us like Scarface http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My point was merely that the black and white (and red) style is something very often used, especially for noir stuff, so that I assumed Remedy wasn't directly inspired by the Scarface poster as it seemed you were implying. Same style and all though, so point taken and nevermind http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
ADoomedMarine: haven't tried that no, but the likeness striked me. Gotta love that chainsaw scene. I picked up the 2 disc version of Scarface when I was in NY this weekend.
