I was thinking that with Max Payne 2 coming out in a week (in the US), people are going to be disgussing the story on this board. There are, however, going to be many people (including me) who won't have been able to play it. So for all of our sakes:
PLEASE DON'T REVEAL A SPOILER AS THE SUBJECT FOR A POST!
I've had it before, and it's really frustrating- like when someone tells you the end of the film before you watch it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/brickwall.gif. Say that it's story related, but don't give anything away, like:

OMG, MAX PAYNES DEAD!

I don't think that's going to happen, so it was a bad example, but you get what I mean.

Thanks a lot guys. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Agreed.

(I was going to write more, but its as simple as that.)

A 'spoiler' isn't called a spoiler for nothing.

I agree, if I have to wait til the 24th to play the game, I want to play it with no knowledge of the story whatsoever.
That way I can enjoy the game and watch the story unfold!! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i will probably not look at the posts with a wierd title. just in case. but that is no reason to not post stuff on this forum. right? sriously, i bet some ashole is going to post the story after he or she plays the whole game with cheat CODER

If you want to know nothing about the new game, then why the hell are you posting here anyway?

Oh and L.J., I take it you're a fellow 24 fan. Love the sig. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah I agree. I have to wait until December to get max Payne 2 for the PS2 because my computer sucks. I don't want anybody spoiling the ending for me!

So I will probably disappear from the forums until December. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah, I might stay away from the boards a bit more, but I can't really deny myself of the fun of being excited about Max II! I'll just have to be careful.
If everyone could just put a spoiler warning on subjects and posts then it would help me, and new Max Payners to the board not find out anything we don't want to.

Thanks.

It should be possible to read and post in a forum w/o being subjected to spoilers. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Unfortunately, common courtesy isn't very common anymore... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Well, for folks who have played it and finished it, it's not fair to THEM that they can't talk about the game. A better way is that if you don't want to know, stay off/away until you've played the game yourself.

Perhaps there should be another forum? "General Max Payne - For People Who Have Completed The Game"

Well, all we're asking is that people not put spoilers in the thread titles. I mean, if people want to start threads with titles like "Plot discussion - SPOILERS AHEAD" or something, that's a little different than posting a thread title like "OMG Woden shot Mona and she died!". See what I mean?

The problem with issues like this is when do you stop having a seperate forum? I don't like this idea - I think the idea of self restraint is a far better idea.

Besides, most of you reading this forum are obviously intersted in the game and will be getting it fairly quickly, if not on the first day; I really don't think it's that big of a deal - just avoid the forum until you get/play the game.

Well, part of the problem, as stated by a bunch of users, are the international forumgoers or the people who'll be getting it on PS2 or some other console system. They will have to wait for at least a few weeks after the US release date for PC, and spoiling it for them isn't exactly fair. Likewise, I don't think telling them to go "sit in the corner and wait" until they get the game is fair, either - I don't think it's too much to ask for people to just not post spoilers in thread titles. It's not like we're telling people not to discuss the game (and potentially spoiler material) -- we're just saying to warn people first.

...and for the record, I AM getting the game tomorrow. I might not get to play it until Saturday (depends on how the EB $20 rebate thing plays out), but I will own a copy tomorrow, one way or another.

I agree. I just want other gamers to be considerate about this. I know that you other regualars like me wouldn't reveal anything without notice, but I just wanted evryone to know.

Maybe if you guys put a BOLD warning when you enter the forum (with all the others) saying not to reveal any spoilers <font color="red"> WITHOUT WARNING </font>

Thanks

There should be room for a middle ground here:

There will be ppl that take a week or two to play the game, and will discuss only the parts or chapters they've played, and maybe also help ppl get past early roadblocks > <font color="1F1F22"> such as MP1's automated bridge.</font> < http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If ppl exercise common courtesy, this can work. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Perhaps this forum needs
tags. The SA forums make anything in spoiler tags black on black so you can only read them by highlighting them.

There's already a thread (http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=373973&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1) about that in the UBB.threads forum.

Even if we don't get a
tag, using the [ COLOR] tag with #1F1F22 will make a post invisible.
