just because Max Payne 2 is out doesn't mean people don't still like Max Payne 1, personally after playing through both or them, and besides the new "Karma - Havok" system in Max Payne 2, I like Max Payne 1 Better.

I guess this was due to alot of things in Max Payne 2 that didn't make it as awesome as it could have been (No offence 3D Realms, I love your games).

like the deaths in Max Payne 2, there where fewer special camera slow motion deaths then in Max Payne 1 - which I found a suprise since the new engine could really "AWE" you with the new rag doll effects, this is shown beautifully with the first guy you kill (you know the guy in black that you send flying into the hospital shelves).

some of the models in game where's as nice as you'd think coming from 3D realms, this is displayed by using
-developerkeys in the shortcut and pressing page up and page down. some of the models look really nasty.

The game was very short, being a single player game, I would expect the game to last longer then a few hours. IMO that's why the single player game community is dieing off is because the single player games that are being released are too short. why bother buying a single player game that gives you a few hours of enjoyment, when you can get a multi-player game? And please don't take the the wrong way, I WANT quality single player games because sometimes you just wanna relax by yourself and play a game, and not have to worry about getting pissed off at someone on the net because they're cheating or cheaping you out of a win etc. But it's pointless if the game has little content...

I could go on with all the bad things that I've see in Max Payne 2 but I'm not out to bash the game, I did enjoy the few hours of gameplay that it gave me. I do suggest you buy it, because it is a good game and you can't really blame 3D realms for the short games because that are what games are all about these days, and it's not just 3D realms making short games. I'm just complaining because games are getting shorter and shorter, and it's starting to make me wonder why we're still paying so much for a game when the content is less in the games today.

Please no immature replies.

If the rating system is worth a damn (which we all know it's not) there shouldn't be any immature people playing this game.

Rated M for - maybe you should by it -

Good luck with your decision bud, but the more people that have it, the better the chances of a decent mod community, and the better the chances of some nice mods for it coming out.

I haven't played MP2, but I've recently had a similar experience (I guess it could start a forum for itself). For about a year I've been dying to get Soul Reaver 2: Legacy of Kain (the first part is a really great adventure/action game). But once I got it cheap (thanks god), I played it through in a few days without playing obsessed. I thought it could have some kind of special ending to make it more spectacular, but it doesn't. Greater graphics than SR1, but worse animations, history, combat system, weapons... and no puzzles to solve.

And now I should analize the causes of this later tendencie in the gaming industry. Nowadays, games use extremely complex models for EVERYTHING. It makes the implementing phase longer than ever, taking years to develop a decent game. So the solution is making shorter games to avoid the much loathed (by most gamers, not me) repetition of scenaries and enemies.

The problem is gamers are obsessed with graphics, camera tricks and stuff like that, forgetting the important qualities of good IAs, plot and the others components of a game. I admire (and everyone should) old games like Rick Dangerous, Myst/RIVEN (yes, they have great graphics, but static, and people doesn't like that), Flashback, Alone in the Dark or Loom. MP1 graphics are far more than enough for good graphics. Working more in details is wasting time.

And it's over... although I should write some more....
