What becomes of Vinnie Gognitti?

Hi everyone,
yet again, I am playing Max Payne and i've returned to the chapter "Police Brutality" where Gognitti is running for his life slamming on the door. Once you catch up with him, Max interrogates him. However, it's not clear what happens to Vinnie after. Max said it was shakedown time, but doesn't actually shoot him. But once he walks away he says "your rights will be read at your funeral." That sounds to me like Max killed Vinnie. Or did he just leave Vinnie there to die or be apprehended? Could Vinnie be back for MP2?.........

i figure his superiors either took care of him, or they were so busy dealing with max payne that he had time to get away. i dont see why he would be returning. he only had power because of his heritage. i doubt he would have the knowhow to assemble a new mob of any kind.

I agree. Vinnie was a nasty little s**t. I took great pleasure in beating him up with the baseball bat images/icons/grin.gif

After what Max Payne did to him, I'm pretty sure that Vinnie won't try messing with him again ever, being the coward than he was.

I did find him funny though. He didn't look that tough for a mafia boss. images/icons/smile.gif

But I was thinking that Vinnie would return in MP2 not as an enemy, but as an informant that Max will use for any insider information in the black market or criminal world. That would be like payback for all the crap he put Max through. Just a thought.

I wonder if Max is a private invesitgator or if he works for Woden. I can't wait for MP2!!!

As we're so fond of believing in the movie/comic book/video game world, if the area around their disapearance is gray the odds are they'll be back just for the sequel.

Hell sometimes you'll see them die and they'll still come back!

I'm sure Gognitti will be back, even if it's just a cameo.

Personally, I'm thinking that Gognitti was not seen to be killed because it was more dramatic to leave no real doubt but still make us assume. It would be very cool for Max to seek out Gognitti in the sequel, perhaps for info, and watch Max be the aggressor this time, with Gognitti a snivelling little pansy from the start...wait a minute...never mind - he always was a snivelling little pansy.
I would be surprised to see him again, but it would work in a flashback or another 'dream'...

Gognitti was actually one of my favorites... specifically for his whiny amusing character.
"Owweee, ya shot me!"
"Payeen!!??, I'll killya ya lousy friggin' cop!"
What a scream!!!

Niagara and The Russion are tied for my second favorite, and then perhaps backstabbin' bastard. Now, I really did enjoyed killing that sob.

The rest of the characters (besides Woden perhaps, who is too distant) are just too damned goofy.
